I recently saw the post regarding Betreibungsamt and I wanted to get some addtional thoughts on the next steps..
I went to the local debt enforcement office and picked up the Zahlungsbefehl.
(Before anything, I live in Basel and understand it is my responsibility to learn swiss-german, which I am trying, but i just have a really hard time with it…). The agent spoke almost perfect english and told me that he couldnt explain it in english and just handed me the Zahlungsbefehl. I apologized for not speaking the language and thanked him and left. Now two things.
- Im not completley sure where and how much im supposed to pay? As attached in the image, the sum adds up to 370 for the SERAFE fee + reminder fees.
What confuses me is the Betreibungskosten (?) at the bottom of the list. As they suggested, I sent two emails in the past couple days and have recievd no response on the exact cost. The date for me to pay is coming up and Im thinking I shouldnt wait for their response. Should I just pay the 350+20 = 370
As for the payment, is the Zahistelle with the IBAN number where I pay?or do I need to go to the debt enforcement office to make the payment? I couldn’t find a reception desk or information desk at the office to ask any further questions regarding this..

Give them a call and ask them how much exactly you will have to pay on the specific day, as there is an interest (which is stated in german on the bottom left).
You will have to pay the Betreibungsamt – with the iban they provided (on the bottom right).
It’s really annoying that they can’t just write the total amount.
Just call them and ask. They’re usually super friendly and seem genuinely happy when you call. They’re pleased as soon as they realise you’re actually trying to pay. Most of their “clients” are probably a pain the ass and don’t want to pay.
Wtf i received also two times a betreibung and they were ble to write jow much the betreibungskosten are

There is a “Betr. Nr.” At the top of your letter. They need that to find your betreibung.
They can send you a notice for your mobile banking via Email.

If you don’t have a television, you don’t have to pay the TV tax. If you don’t have a car, you don’t have to pay the Radio tax. Of course you can’t watch SRF online either.
Just add the four amounts and pay that. Since they haven’t indicated a ‘from’ date for the interest, they can’t expect you to pay it.
it seems like you can have up to max 10 items, then the charge for issuing the whole thing. So it’s all together
If you look at the bottom right, you see “1/2”. I am sure you will find more information and the proper amount owed on the 2nd page
It is recommended to call them and ask how much you have to pay exactly. This is because they add interest from the day you received the Betreibung to the day you pay.
Since it’s Basel Stadt you should be able to get someone on the phone that speaks english. Otherwise ask a friend or someone else to call them for you.
