IMARC trials took 6 years in Victoria. How long did the strip search trials take?

They hit you with hamburger with the lot and then drag it out for as long as possible.

  2. I don’t think biting is okay.

But the police officer sitting on the mans back and punching him, well after the biting has ceased is also not okay.

  3. I have seen some fucked up police brutality in the last day, and made comments to that effect.

I will try to take an honest approach to every video and not take a side or care about up or downvotes.

He clearly tries to bite one of the arresting officers. This is fairly procedural use of force to subdue someone who is resisting. This is not like the other videos.

  4. Is there any footage *before* this clip of the police and the person on the ground?

I’m no expert, but this looks like assault to me.

I would like to know exactly what happened preceding what’s been shared. Police are trained to respond and not to react. My sense is that they’re reacting to something here.

  5. As someone who supports the protest and generally thinks the police response was totally disproportionate, ridiculous, etc – I think this particular clip does less favours than making the case for this as it can easily get thrown back as “see they were violent, there was no police brutality they were being bitten and assaulted by protestors”. E.g. the video of the middle aged office worker getting punched whilst he has his hands up is much more indefensible.

As far as I can see the biting side of the story seems to be valid from 0.02 its being bitten, it looks like his hand gets out at 0.18 (officer seems to check his hand at 0.26).

  6. Write to your local MP, NSW Police and Chris Minns office. Dont let this slide. This sort of shit belongs in the US.

Ok I am going to make the same argument I made in the other post.

Right now emotions are in full swing and I feel there is a narrative being build here to create some kind of witch hunt against the police, but I urge people to think critically here.

Disclaimer, I DO NOT like cops anymore than the next guy and what happend during this protest was fked, what is happening in the US is fked, and people need to stand up to tyranny.

While the police has shown absolutely no professionalism this night and beat the shit out of a punch of protestors based on various videos that has been shared. But IN THIS SPECIFIC CLIP, I cannot stress that it is also not easy to deal with someone who is biting down on your hand hard and not letting go.

Humans have enough bite force to cleanly bite off a finger, it’s not fun to have this happen to you. Could the cops have done differently to get the guy to let go? Absolutely. But I also understand in a moment of panic they probably just decided to beat the shit out of this guy to get him to let go before he bites a chunk of flesh out of the cops hand.

  9. It may not look good, but in a physical arrest officers are trying to gain control without causing a more serious injury like a broken arm during cuffing. I’m not sure what a realistic alternative is in a fast moving situation like that.

  10. There’s been videos of old men assaulted, protestors hunted down Sydney’s streets.

When I was there I saw cops charge without warning or provocation, kids pepper sprayed in the face, more old folks punched, people taking shelter inside shops because Police closed in on all sides and they were assaulting us. A teenage boy having to shout that he wasn’t apart of the protest because he came up the Town Hall station elevator at the wrong time and a cop looked like he was going to jump him right there.

But that poor cops hand got bitten.

Why do we never see what happens before in these videos? I really DO wonder. It always skips straight to police action, but NEVER shows the lead-up. This is straight-up propaganda.

Now kids, We don’t bite, kick, hit or call each other names, behave and respect each other otherwise the group won’t be going to the park on Thursday.
Banning peaceful protest at all, ever, for any reason is an absolutely no in a civilised society, NSW needs to pull it head in and sort out its blue shirts, touching kids and dusting up the public can’t be how you represent yourselves.

  13. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from these videos it’s that NSW police punch like I do in my dreams.

  14. Genuine question for all the “we need to see what happened before” people – what are you hoping to see?

This person is already restrained with hands behind his back at the start of the video.

  15. He’s clearly trying to bite the cop.

    “He was defending himself”

No, he was being arrested by uniformed police.

This is a case of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”, unlike the office worker who got tangled up with the bike cop. *That* was an unnecessary response.

The kidney punches were vindictive – look at the body language. This protest was turned into a shitshow intentionally, and the cops are going to get away with everything.

  17. As an ex NSW police officer this is shameful and is an excessive use of force. its heated situation and the cop has likely been abused, threatened and attacked all night. Seriously, dude is on the ground in wrist lock. A desk officer could handle it better. let alone a PORS officer
