It rained after months, this is so relaxing. Happy for the plants in melbourne 🥹

  2. Finally get to move my indoor plants outdoor to get a cool shower. Also took a photo of my lemon in the rain.

    I swear I don’t understand people.

It was winter for like 10 months in Melbourne. It sucked. It was depressing and miserable. It rained every single day. Then, we finally get some sunshine. Some days were hotter than others but in general it was very good. At times the temperature is as low as 22 degrees. So don’t come at me with “oh my God it’s too hot I can’t breathe”.

People are still complaining. That it’s too hot. Finally it’s raining again, as if we live in a desert where it rains once a year.

I truly don’t understand how this works. I’m not upset about the rain today. It’s fine that it’s raining it makes no difference to me. It’s just a meteorological event.
I just don’t get how people are looking forward to the rain after 10 months of miserable weather. And then when it’s winter complain about how shitty it is.

Pick one. Or stop complaining about the weather, talking about the weather or making posts about the weather.

I walked home from the top of Lygon down to the cemetery, got absolutely drenched and loved every minute of it.

  6. Close enough to two months since our last significant day of rain. The last meaningful rain recording in Melbourne was 14mm on the 22nd of December, and that’s also the last day that Geelong has recorded any rain at all. You’d have to go back to the end of November and the start of December for any more before that.

Hopefully we can continue getting a bit more rain over the next few weeks, but you’ll want to enjoy it now while it lasts considering the current long range climate outlooks are starting to point towards [quite a dry Autumn](https://reg.bom.gov.au/climate/ahead/outlooks/archive/rain.forecast.median.national.season2.20260205.hr.png) for most of the country, with a decent chance of the dry continuing through the rest of the year past Autumn while we’ve got an [El Nino forecast to emerge by early Winter](https://reg.bom.gov.au/climate/ocean/outlooks/archive/20260207//plumes/sstOutlooks.rnino34.hr.png).

Far from a great outlook when pretty much the entire state is already facing [significant rainfall deficits over the last 24 months](https://reg.bom.gov.au/climate/maps/rainfall/?variable=rainfall&map=decile&period=24month&region=vc&year=2026&month=01&day=31) and longer, and the Victorian Water Storage levels are already 17% below where they were at this time last year.

  7. I work as a ranger and the land has been so dry lately. Even the earth has cracks all through them. I’m so happy for this rain! I hope more comes! 🫶🏼

  8. I’m overseas atm but am so glad to see this. Really miserable hot dry stretch we’ve had since December

  9. Fuck yes. Been waiting for this. Diligently been watering the garden, but this is so much better

  10. Actually it has been a nice summer this year, few hot days but not over the top last few felt like they were too wet and not a proper Melbourne summer.

  11. It’s good to have rain but I can’t say I am not happy with how dry it has been. I play tennis and just got my motorcycle license, so I’m enjoying A LOT the lack of rain these days.
