Wouldn’t not destroying perfectly usable clothing be a no-brainer for the company? Throwing that away just seems like a loss to me, even strictly financially speaking. What am I missing?

It is wasteful to destroy perfectly good clothes, but I suspect that now every luxury band is going to sell like 1000 numbered shirts/dresses/shoes/whatever because they would rather make a high profit selling limited editions than be stuck selling their high end brand name stuff for cheap when it doesn’t sell at high prices.
