I went looking for fungi and lichen after all the rain we've had around Brisbane, but found a number of Amegilla bees clamped to thin plant stalks around the dam instead. This one let me get close enough with my iPhone to get footage of it grooming itself.
It's the same genus as the well-known Blue-banded Bee, but a different species. Possibly Amegilla pulchra or Amegilla asserta. iNaturalist search coming up when I've downloaded photos from different angles from my proper camera.
