Driving along in the right habd lane along Bell St today when suddenly a bloke on a bicycle apeared out of nowhere. Watching the footage again, the dude flew in from a side street and just fanged across the three lanes. Luckily the car in the lane next to me was paying attention and slowed down. I also slowed down. I would implore anyone who rides like this to reconsider….because it just takes one driver to not pay attention and you are cactus.

Rant over…nerves unshattered.

Got away with one there. Could have been disastrous for all parties involved, especially that car in the middle lane

  2. This is the city of hook turns. Just do a hook turn if there is an intersection. Or cross like a pedestrian.

I know of a frequent rider who came down a steep hill on a side street and shot out onto a major highway without slowing down or looking. Got away with it and didn’t understand the fuss when i chewed him out for it later. I was riding behind him and stopped at the stop sign like a sane person.

  4. Pretty much the same as you see daily in the CBD from food delivery bicycle and scooter drivers. They put everyone’s lives at risk so they can earn $3.

  5. I’m disappointed that the video was muted. Was looking forward to the beeping and string of expletives

  6. Was it that part of Bellfield between Preston and West Heidelberg near that old shopping strip with the Aldi? If so, they’re all crackheads or methheads. It’s seriously un-nerving driving through there. They just run or walk all over the road.

  7. He’s for sure a very confident cyclist!

That being said though, what is the correct way to do a right turn from a stroad like Bell St with “vehicular cycling”?
