It is. I vividly remember people saying Obama had zero chance before he got the nomination. Inspiration and Charisma go a long way and AOC has both. She would be the most powerful speaker since Obama if she were to be elected.
I think she’d do a lot more good by taking Schumer’s job.
Gonna be honest and say I did not think she could win before. But now, I feel like she can. She has to run and they need to get behind her. She needs a very good running mate though. Andy Beshear, IMO, is the best choice. Even in my area, that does seem to hate Democrats for the most part, many like Beshear. Beshear absolutely has presidential aspirations. So I could see him running. I would vote for either one in the general. Cannot vote for Democrats in the primary. But if I was choosing it would be AOC. Beshear as VP. Then he can run after she has been there 8 years. I see that as a solid set of Presidents. Unlike the Bush Jr. presidency and Trump presidencies. And they are young for candidates. So avoiding the pitfalls of Biden and Trump.
As much as I want her to run and win, I doubt the party would select her and if they did, I doubt American would put her into office. Most of the US is not ready for an intelligent and well spoken woman of color, and may never be. Most men can’t even deal with dating a smart, powerful woman, so how would they deal with that woman being the President?
I mean she polls better than the democratic establishment and people actually *like* her and her policies, but that’s never persuaded the DNC before.
TBH, I’d rather see her replace Schumer, but if she wants to run for President, I’d be glad to support her.
People need to realize that progressives *can* win, even moreso if the DNC and establishment stop kneecapping them at every opportunity. Democratic leadership *hates* progressives but at least trump gives them a good talking point…

It doesn’t matter how good of a president she would be. It doesn’t matter how good her ideas are. It doesn’t matter that she represents the changing face of the democratic party.
She is a woman and for that reason many voting blocs that would otherwise be more likely to align with Democrats simply will not vote for her. They will once again lose the Latino vote, they will once again hemorrhage black voters, they will once again hemorrhage economic populists who are also social moderates or incrementalists.
There is no universe in which America is ready for a woman president.

It’d be nice to be represented by someone who has experience with the way our system has functioned– college debt, crushing housing costs, absurd rent. The freehand of the market has been failing people. We went from Payday loans to DoorDash credit. I heard today a blip about a credit scheme for renters.

Unfortunately, just like they did with Hillary over decades, the Right Wing Media Machine has been brainwashing viewers against AOC ever since she started making headlines with the Green New Deal – they are already primed like Manchurian candidates to despise her without really even understanding or being able to coherently verbalize why.
As much as I like her for the job, she’s essentially on par with Bernie Sanders’ chance of winning a presidential election – ie very low, despite what being on Reddit might lead you to believe.
Even so, I’d vote for her and Buttigieg as a tandem in a heartbeat, even if a woman and a gay dude have basically zero chance of winning a national election. Although I think Buttigieg for President is the better option, if only because he can absolutely shred Republicans during debates.
She can’t even get all the Democrats behind here. The majority of Democrats are not progressives. She will never win the general election even if she can somehow get past the primary. It would run the Democrats any chance of giving everything Trump broke. It’s a terrible idea.

As a German American who has had women leaders and many in positions of political power, it baffles me that in 2026, people are still refusing to vote for a woman on the grounds of being an actual woman.
Yet, pins up maga slags who all look like botoxed, dime store , secondhand sex dolls posing infront of the flag with gold plated AR15s, as some kind of qualification politically. (Anna Paulina Luna, Krispy Noam, Bondi, and whatever other right wing, beauty pageant reject they can cough up) . Any woman with a remote qualification and intelligence is immediately rejected on basis of appearance.
That says that the US has much deeper, solidified gender and cultural problems that no democratic leadership has been able to address for decades. It is perpetuated in these comments even , “we are not ready”.
What has to happen for the US to “be ready ” for a woman president? How is that achieved? Especially with maga “tradwife” bullshit being celebrated on American social media and indoctrinated into young people, what and how can this be achieved as momentum is gathering for Project 2025 to create a patriarchy that doesn’t even allow women to vote or have body autonomy?
People won’t vote for AOC because they believe nobody else will, well that’s one less vote. Imagine when millions are all thinking like that, then of course she has no chance.
But mitigate this by saying “VP I would vote for”. Why? She deserves a lesser role despite being more qualified and more what the US needs right now, people are comfortable to relegate her to a position of ineffectiveness based on gender.

If AOC was running in any European country, she would be definitely taken seriously and her qualifications , defence of the people and policies are taken into account, not her sexuality, attractiveness or race.
