  1. Disappointing! I can understand why the gov wouldn’t want another race at Albert Park given how disruptive the F1 is but still sad for the island. It’s such a fun atmosphere down there and an iconic track. Big loss.

It sounds like Phillip Island was going to lose the race regardless, it’s more a case that Victoria has lost a race due to the organisers wanting to move away from Phillip island.

  3. Not massively surprising. The place is a bit of a dump these days, the Fox family seems to have little interest in upgrading and rumors were the vic govt money wouldn’t have been enough.

Short money is on it going to the Bend so for the people who complain Phillip Island is too far away good news! The Shahins joint is even worse!

  4. Albert park?

    15billion lost to corruption?

    The bend?

    Herald sun?

A lot of things don’t add up here, Albert park street circuit is definitely not suitable to host a motoGP race and the bend is not really and alternative.

I’ll believe it when the 2027 calendar gets released.

  5. My brother. who lives in Mannum in South Aus, would be over the moon as it is only a short trip to the new circuit at Tailem Bend, if it goes there…

Thoughts and prayers for the victorian police who will be crying on each others shoulders at the thought of missing out on harrassing all those interstate visitors.

  7. Went last year and will be going again this year. Disappointing for MotoGP to lose its best track, but seems like a commercial decision from Dorna and also due to lack of investment in the event.

  8. As a south australian, HA! Karma for taking our F1.

As a south australian, I am so sorry if you have to go to the Bend

Does this mean we can dig up Vivienne Cameron’s body from where it’s buried under the track?

If you have spent any time at all in the paddocks at various MotoGP events around the world, you will understand why Phillip Island is not up to scratch and has been at risk for years. Pits are tiny and too small for the teams to work in, and much more toilets are needed. Paddock passes are sold at a premium price causing overcrowding and the riders and teams hate it. The weather is always miserable and the VIP Village tickets are ridiculously expensive for what you get. This was always going to happen.

  11. Fucking joke. This is going to be the worst thing for the local part of the sport. Funding dollars going from a facility used all year round, to a once off fucking Street circuit.
