  1. As it should be.

No one in Europe should help them in any way, even if Iran strikes back.

Let them do their shit show alone this time.

  2. For once the strikes might not be a bad idea

But I still prefer they don’t use our bases for it, so good for us

The UK may or may not have refused the USA use for launching actual strikes from but the USA has made extensive use of the same bases to get USA strike aircraft and their refueling aircraft into position for the strikes, over the last two weeks.

  4. Time for the rest of Europe to follow suit.

Trump spent the past year threatening Europe to take Greenland.

  5. I’ve said it before, people love to hate on Starmer but he’s honestly handled Trump really well.

If you actually look at Starmers actions not his words he’s just ignored Trumps foreign policy demands on every stage. He’s recognised Palestine, moved closer to the EU, strengthened Ukraine, is looking to militarise Greenland, and refused to help defend Isreal from Iranian missiles (which the UK previously did).

Starmer has just taken the Putin approach to Trump, he is verbally polite to him but ignores everything he wants. He’s managed to get us the best US trade deal in the developed world and Trumps got fucking nothing from him.

They’re going to use the Azores airbase instead. Our government is too coward to deny them access.

Lots of planes have been landing there in the past couple days.

How? No, seriously, how. All that’s happening is they’re transiting through. They’re not an axis for attack. The only ones that could be useful are Akrotiri or Diego Garcia, but the latter hasn’t had any B-2’s launch from the US and I reckon the B-52’s are just as watched, but not a peep about their movement.

Good. Why should the continent of Europe endure a possible wrath from Iran when we have nothing to do with it?!

  9. Oh look. Turns out the yanks do in fact need those overseas bases. Maybe they should bear that in mind a bit more when threatening Europe.

    **BIRMINGHAM, England**

The United Kingdom has refused to grant US forces permission to use British military bases for potential strikes against Iran, The Times reported on Thursday.

The decision has heightened tensions with Washington and prompted criticism from President Donald Trump.

Under longstanding agreements, American aircraft could operate from RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, home to US heavy bombers, and the joint US–UK base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, only with prior approval from the British government.

However, London has not granted that permission for any hypothetical action against Iran, citing concerns that participating in a strike without a clear legal justification could breach international law.

Trump criticized the decision while also attacking the UK’s 2025 agreement to transfer sovereignty of the British Indian Ocean Territory, including Diego Garcia and Chagos Islands, to Mauritius.

On his Truth Social platform, he warned that “it may be necessary for the United States to use Diego Garcia, and the Airfield located in Fairford … in order to eradicate a potential attack by a highly unstable and dangerous Regime,” referring to Iran.

The dispute came after Trump discussed his ultimatum to Iran over its nuclear program with Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The following day, Trump publicly tied his criticism of the Chagos deal to Britain’s potential role in any US military action. He suggested the UK’s support would be legal under international law, claiming Iran could strike the UK and allied nations.

    Good.

    A: Fuck em.

B: It’s just adding more fuel to a eternal dumpsterfire anyway.

C: Israel’s problem, not ours. Fuck them too.

Come to think of it, fuck everyone involved. Not our war.

Uh-huh. There are literally attack aircraft and tankers staging out of RAF Mildenhall as we speak, and have been for the past few days.

Yes. Fuck you Trump! We don’t want you using our fucking bases to break international law. And we only want to share our military facilities with real allies.

  14. Great news. America has become a rogue state and seems to be on a trajectory similar to Weimar Germany.

Europe should be allying with countries like China, Brazil, India, etc against fascism. Kick the US out of NATO.

We absolutely should be helping the Iranians right now

Edit Iranians meaning the protestors and citizens, not the regime

  16. Is starmer against an attak in Iran? I’m not sure what the position in eu is and what an attack would look like

  17. Good. The *only* reason the situation has been worsening is that Trump and his little fascist comrades worked hard to sabotage the JCPOA (‘Iran Deal’) that Obama and the entire EU worked on for years. And would you guess, when they scrapped it, tensions escalated again and Iran eventually resumed Uranium enrichment.

IF the US uses Diego Garcia & Fairford anyway, expect a statement from 10 Downing with a few words in BOLD…

  19. This is what the entire US perspective on Greenland was about. Only able to use foreign bases, as long as they are ‘allowed’ to. Would bet that they’ll be bringing Greenland back into the spotlight soon, using things like this to reinforce their case. It really throws cold water on the pushback that claims having access is enough, since access can be shut off at any time without full control.

In some ways, it’s a good statement for the UK, in that it protects itself from a possible Iranian retaliation. But it’s bad for other NATO members as it gives the US additional leverage in future talks and actions.

Am I missing something here? Iran has killed tens of thousands of civilians in the last few weeks. Their regime deserves to get bombed into oblivion. Every Iranian I know is in support of this. There have been massive Iranian protests in my city and in cities around the world in support of this. Of all the times to stand up to Trump, this isn’t it!
