  1. This is real-life version of me making an error in my road planning on Sim City 4 and seeing all my traffic overflow elsewhere, creating new problems.

  2. Just a hit piece about the tunnel really though isn’t it? There’s 0 stats in that article that show an increase, just a couple locals complaining about traffic.

The trucks need to use the toll roads. It’s ridiculous to have b-doubles on tiny inner urban streets.

  4. Pretty much as expected, especially when the project in it’s final form was entirely proposed by Transurban behind closed doors. Because surely the company that runs all of our toll roads doesn’t have any ulterior motives in the projects they want built, right? /s.

The “removing 9000 trucks per day from local inner west roads” slogan that they were pushing was only ever based on modelled traffic changes to Moore, Buckley and Francis Streets, and Somerville, Hudsons and Williamstown Roads.

The same traffic modelling also found that they were expecting a +7,000 truck per day increase on Millers Road, but they never mentioned that because it would’ve negated most of the “9000 trucks removed”.

Even then, most of the traffic modelling only ever accounted for those major roads in the vicinity of the freeway, so these knock on effects into the Kensington area and beyond were never included in the estimated changes either.

With trucks not only being tolled to use the tunnel, but also being tolled just to use the exisiting freeway and bridge, it’s no wonder that they’ll be trying to rat-run through the area and avoid the tolls where possible.

  5. The intersection shown has been chock full of trucks since i started using it 45 years ago. Macaulay- Boundary is the truck route out from the city to the Tulla. Beat up about nothing

I had the actual powerlines to my house pulled out by a truck using my street to avoid traffic on an appropriate road. For some reason, our low powerlines don’t appear on the warning map. Happened to a house around the corner as well.
