All pumps were occupied.

Several regular parking spots were available nearby.

An EV was parked at one of the fuel pumps without refueling, with the vehicle unattended.

Genuinely curious what the general etiquette is here.

If it’s only for fuel cars, not possible to recharge the Tesla, he’s obviously blocking a resource useful to others. He should have parked elsewhere.

not cool, but if they didnt fill gas they are probably gone in a minute or two, who cares.

Definitely not cool. But maybe the guy is seeking revenge for all the chargers that are commonly blocked by ICE cars :/

  5. Probably a try for retribution for ICE cars parking at charging stations. Anyway an asshat. Dont do to others what you dont like yourself.

  6. Have a tesla. Had to park at a gas pumping station because the tire pumping thing was also placed there. Then I went into the shop to grab a drink. Could have happened here as well…

I drive about a 30 to 40k km each year due to my job in my private car and i therefore i visit gas stations quite often.

This is unfortunately very common and one of the less dangerous manifestations of the “me, myself and I” mentality that has taken over Switzerland in the past two decades. Its super annoying, worth a serious death stare but nothing in comparison to people that are afraid of their own shadows driving cars… 🤣

Also combustions engine car drivers like to park there. Morons.

  8. clearly bad behavior but in my experience it’s not uncommon to have drivers ignore the coop pronto parking spaces and even with non-EV’s they will just rock up to a meter away from the door or even in between pumps and go and do a week’s worth of shopping. ASSHOLES.

  9. same vibe as when a „normal car“ occupies parking field with possibility to charge your ev – just prop less long

  10. To be completely honest, I park by the pump when I go get something in the store

I’m aware it’s not ideal, but I go mainly to a station with like 8 pumps and they’re never full. I’m also in the store for literally 2min

I mean, people do this all the time with regular gas running cars, we have all done it, I am sure OP has done it or would do if there a a good enough reason. People got too much time to dwell on these things IMO

  12. This is the equivalent of ICE cars blocking EV charging stations, which happens much more frequently. A dick move nevertheless.

  13. As an EV driver I would have to make a post like this almost every day because of so many assholes parking on ev charging spots. And no they are not gone after 5min probably like this guy.

He just went to pick cigarettes or whatever. It will take the same time as having someone else with a real car pay his gas. Chill and don’t ask why we don’t like Swiss Germans

Maybe just to put air in the tires ?

Oh no, right, he has a Tesla so it’s easier to assume he did that on purpose to assert dominance.

  16. I drive electric, and tbh I sometimes do this when there are more than half the pumps available. But only if I know I’m going in and straight out to buy one item. I don’t think I’ve ever made someone wait.

  17. Sorry but lol,

Did you never experiment a gas station before?

Yes, people park at a pump and go to buy something….

Just insult them politely, sometimes it’s a good thing (nooo I never do that lol)

There is no etiquette. People mostly assume wrong why other people left their vehicle as they have.

    Several reasons can be:

    * A medical emergency
    * 5 minutes ago other vehicles blocked off the appropriate parking possibilities
    * 5 minutes ago other vehicles parked in a way that only left the option to park the vehicle totaly offset from the parking markings

Usualy various dynamics play and malicious intent is not part of it.

its not that deep. sometimes people just forget or think its fine to go in and out. relax a bit more

  20. I wasn’t aware it was that common. I’ve never considered using a charger space myself, even if no other spots were available.
