And they are starting a new trans inclusive social group to replace it. Hopefully, other groups follow suit.

  2. That’s the Manchester city centre one set up in 2012, right?

There are still many WI branches in the area. A quick search on [the branch finder ](https://www.thewi.org.uk/wis-a-z) returned 20 others within 10 miles

If the people who were members of this branch disagree with the way the WI operates then of course it makes sense for them to leave and start their own group

  3. Silly women, thinking they can judge for themselves who they should associate with. They should let those decisions be made by people who truly understand womens’ needs, such as American religious extremists and hermitic billionaires.

  4. According to a recent Guardian article, about 12 institutes were thinking of closing. Out of 6,300.

Social media is not real life.

  5. I find the trans debate an odd one, because people who are completely reasonable about other left leaning topics are losing it over “safe spaces”, “identity” and other women specific topics. Some of the folks I know who are ranting have previously taken part positively in LGBTQA+ events – emphasis on the T.

Gender identity and sexuality seem to be treated as synonymous in these cases and the default expectation is that the sexuality includes “sex offender and risk to cis women”. Bizzare behaviour given that most of these people just want to live their lives peacefully.

  6. The women throwing their toys out of the pram and performatively resigning are as bad as the activists that got the legal interpretation changed, honestly. Especially if these WIs didn’t have any trans members in the first place. You may disagree with the new guidance but is it worth closing a social institution for?

Mind you I’m not a fan of gender-exclusive clubs in the first place. If a man is into making jam and knitting then why should he be excluded?

  7. It’s seems very strange to join a gender exclusive organisation and then quit because it’s too gender exclusive. Make your mind up.

Terfs making it safer for women by getting women’s groups to close.

As long as the right people suffer, any amount of collateral damage is acceptable I guess.
