Hey all, just a PSA, especially to those with babies not old enough for the MMR vaccine or immune compromised people. Vaccination doesn't mean 100% immunity too so even if you're vaccinated it's good to know the signs and get checked out if you're showing any symptoms.
Vaccination rates are dropping due to dis/misinformation and preventable illnesses are on the rise. Stay safe and vaccinate.

This is why I keep telling people when talking about everything that’s happening in the States that we’re safe *for now*.
Stupid and selfish are more contagious than measles
It’s definitely due to vaccine misinformation though. Anti vaxxers refusing to vaccinate their kids against anything
This is why you vaccinate your kids people
Pretty sure I’m probably overdue for a booster of it, going to pencil it in for Friday…
So frustrating… The biggest unintended side effect of getting vaccinated against measles is that enough time has now passed that too many people have forgotten or never seen just how awful and lethal such diseases used to be to so many people.
So not only do we get preventable diseases hurting people, we then also have misinformed people spreading them throughout the community to those who aren’t able to be protected.
if you’re in your 20’s I highly reccommend getting an MMR booster, I’m 24 and got mine done last year (I was studying nursing), I had both vaccinations as a child but my protection pre-booster was very very low, my levels are much better now as I’ve had a booster
tldr: if you’re in your 20’s or older go get a booster!!
if you’re not sure if you’ve had measles or the up to date vax you can get a blood test to check your immunology first, just ask your dr.
21st century really going for that ‘stay back after class and repeat the lessons of the 20th century’ flavour
Get your MMR boosters!!
I had measles as a child so I think I’m immune. I will get a blood test to double check. Thank goodness my kids are up to date though!
My son is still too young for the vaccine and this whole situation gives me such anxiety 😕 the fact that I genuinely have to worry about him getting measles is really frustrating.
Apparently the vaxx for measles can wear off for some adults. I got the MMR vaccine as a baby (documented) but my recent bloodwork showed that I was only immune to Rubella and not Measles. Dr said in some cases it wears off. I got a booster shot.
oh ffs
Do we know what the vaccination rates are?
One of the unsavoury effects of catching measles:

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but if you’re unsure about vaccination status your Doctor can organise a blood test to check for MMR antigens
do i need a vacine for this if i only ever had 1 when i was a kid
?
does anyone have any info (from a legit source) about what, if anything, young people who were vaccinated decades ago as babies should be doing? I haven’t heard anything about a booster shot
Lockdown 2.0 cant wait
