There is zero chance that Trump would allow either chamber of Congress to be held by the Democrats. He understands the stakes. If the choice for Trump is either a Democratic controlled House or Senate and throwing the country into a Constitutional crisis over the rejection of elections, we know what he’ll choose. November, in many ways, is a final test as to whether we even live in a democracy anymore.

Yes, quite honestly, I still am. Everything *else* in that scenario tracks. But there are still state-level elections that need to happen, like the 36 gubernatorial elections happening in November. That’s actually a large part of why elections *are* handled by the states. States also have elections. And I’m having a hard time picturing how, even in a doomsday scenario, Trump manages to prevent states from having gubernatorial or state legislative elections
EDIT: Ooh, or don’t forget all the county and municipal elections. There *are* exceptions, like how Chicago elects its mayor every 4 years in February. But even a lot of local elections take place on the Tuesday after the first Monday of November. What’s the plan for telling, say, Reno that they can’t elect a new mayor this year?

I understand how requiring ID to vote would help Republicans, although many states already require ID to vote, so IDK how much this helps, but how does banning mail-in-voting help? Aren’t most of those votes from old people and the armed forces, whom skew Republican?

So, can we now plainly start talking about what our plan is? When, not if, he attempts to nationalize the elections in any form, we need to take to the streets. Not later that week. Not the next month. That day. And peaceful protests need to be left in 2025 so we can actually accomplish something this time.
For some reason, we’re caught in a loop where we all collectively pretend he’s joking about things when he talks about them a month or two in advance and then we’re all just SHOCKED that he wasn’t joking.
Let us remember what the people of South Korea have done with their leader that attempted a coup.

This was obvious 1,878 days ago on January 6th. The fact that this is a surprise to anyone makes me wonder about common sense.
I’m pretty sure the coup started in 2016 with the whole “Russia, if you’re listening” thing.
Now he has the ultimate power of the entire federal government to help him change elections, issue executive orders, ignore laws, and a private, highly paid, personal army for the physical stuff.
He has a one-hundredfold increase in the level of political and combat power he has now versus before, or just when he was a candidate. If he had this back on Jan 6th, many more Americans would have been killed, some political leaders would have been hanged, and he never would have left office. No one can argue differently. But everyone has forgotten.
There is zero evidence he will stop, show restraint, support our institutions and Constitution, or simply obey the law and court orders.
People have no idea. It’s right in front of them literally every single day and they refuse to believe it.
He also attempted one on Jan 6th that we did nothing about.
So if he does it again, honestly we kind of deserve it.
