They sued not Burger King directly but indirectly because "Burger King did not respect these social values advertised in the code of ethics" using underpaid riders from deliveroo and Glovo, etc..
The unions have therefore called for Burger King to receive a court order to requires Glovo to apply decent working conditions and the right collective agreements. What is being claimed, therefore, is a joint responsibility of the company which uses the digital platform to deliver its orders because it has never lifted a finger to prevent workers from being exploited.
This is a pilot case for the first time it brings into play not the employer but a company that uses the platforms digital to deliver food to your home. In short, a client of the service, who according to the lawyers “has omitted any monitoring and corrective action – we read in the appeal – foreseen both by its code of ethics and by the protocols for the protection of workers that it was required to observe and ensure are observed”.

Dovrebbero denunciare tutte le attività commerciali che hanno usufruito di Glovo, allora. Tutte.
hanno condannato certe società di lusso che non “vigilavano” sui fornitori, mi pare giusto che si faccia lo stesso anche in altri settori.
Non per dire, ma esistono fior fiori di società di audit che emettono questa o quella certificazione con cui le multinazionali si vantano di avere durante le assemblee con gli azionisti e su linkedin. E’ giusto che si inizi a responsabilizzare chi di dovere.
La cosa che fa più rabbia è che alla fine si scarica sempre tutto sull’ultimo anello della catena. Il rider prende 3-4 euro a consegna, si fa il mazzo sotto la pioggia, e chi sta sopra dice “non è un mio problema”.
Se guadagni grazie a quel sistema, un minimo di responsabilità ce l’hai. Non puoi fare marketing sulla “dignità” e poi chiudere gli occhi su come arrivano i tuoi panini a casa.
Ma alla fine chi è il cliente dei vari servizi di consegna? Il ristorante o chi materiamente prende il telefono ed effettua l’ordine, pagando per la consegna?
