>In addition, the officials assess that Iran’s minister of defense and chief of intelligence were also likely killed.
How could that be possible? Iran knew these strikes were coming. How could such top guys be in places they could be hit?

And they say the supreme leader might be under rubble right now. Status unknown.

If there’s one big lesson from this for other third-world regimes that are wary of America, it’s that if you’re looking to acquire nuclear weapons, finish the job. This is why North Korea and Pakistan are practically untouchable no matter how much they antagonise America or hurt American interests.
It’s also why Ukraine regrets giving up their nukes, why Germany and Japan are thinking of acquiring their own, why Russia doesn’t want any more countries in Europe to join NATO and why America has gone so far to prevent Middle-Eastern countries other than Israel from acquiring them.
Even a single working nuke, and the willingness to use it, is enough of a deterrent against invasion, even from superpowers.

it looks like strikes are quiet successful, similarly to strikes in june last year, we will see, what will happend with ayatollah and president, anyway its sort of like cutting heads of hydra, they have bunch of candidates rpepared for every function in case of death of official, meaning they would need to strike LOT more of them for some time to get their leadership into state of chaos

This is how Iraq started in 2003, if any of you can remember. They had the Deck of Cards, and the Americans would scratch one out when a leader was arrested and killed. People here really have such short memories.
