I don’t condone violence in any way shape or form, yet the irony isn’t lost on me that Farage’s whole modus operandi is to rile up the public and stoke division whilst being the only one on the campaign trail being routinely abused and assaulted.

Good. Politically motivated violence has no place in this country

Whilst I am not going to shed a tear for Farage it is appropriate they the police are involved in these sorts of incidents.
More than anything to stop farage from claiming the establishment is out to get him

just a reminder that you can both strongly dislike the man and his shithouse politics and not condone behaviour like this at the same time.
Do we really want to live in a country where throwing objects, food and drinks etc at candidates during an election campaign becomes normalised, regardless of who is on the receiving end? Because I don’t.

This is an insane sub today.
Politicians on all sides have faced physical violence over the years, with serious consequences.
What is stoking division to an individual on one issue, can be seen as a reasonable take to others (eg immigration).
Same with left wing politicians that one might agree with, to others they could be stoking division ( eg talking about race, often in the context of criticising whites- see hamza yousef)
The only correct position here is that violence against politicians is wrong and needs to be stamped out at source.
Jesus the state of this.

Bricks, rocks and milkshakes are not really the answer to humiliate Farage and Tice. The best weapon to use is questions based on facts and truths about Farage.
Perhaps questions over his seemingly close connections to far right and extremist groups in the USA. Questions over his meetings and friendships with Steve ‘wear your racism as a badge of honour’ Bannon and being endorsed by the former ‘Grand Wizard’ of the Klu Klux Klan. That’s without questions over as to why he described Donald Trump as the ‘bravest man I know’. Satire in it’s purest form, surely?
Then there are questions over his affiliations with the AfD political group in Germany – many of whom are associated with far right extremism, racism and national socialism – in other words, nazism/fascism. In fact the Nazis and fascism have been major interests or even hobbies of Farage when younger. Perhaps even now he has more than a passing interest in those ideologies. Which seems to be the more likely considering his political friendships and associations of recent years.

He’s lucky he did this in the UK, a lot of places he would have been shot.

Of course, a crime has been committed for which there was evidence for. The fact that its Farage and the suspect didnt like his politics is irrelevant. We dont want to live in a society where its ok to assault people because we dont like his/her policies. Well the shit brains do but the rest of us get the slippery slope.

If Farage thinks one angry man is a ‘violent left-wing hate mob’, that might go some way to explaining why he thinks illegal immigration is such a problem.

If they threw a brick at Kier Starmer would they say ‘Left-wing leader’ ? Feels a bit odd , almost like they are trying to demonising political views of right wing people. I cannot stand Starmer, or Diane Abbott and many other political figures, but I would never condone throwing or physical aggression.
You use the ballot box, don’t vote for them if you don’t like or agree. You cannot like democracy only when it goes your way. It’s important to have a spectrum of political parties. Whilst I’m unfortunately expecting Labour to get the most seats, I hope enough people vote Reform to shake our current 2 party system up and for them to become the opposition just so it sends a message to both the Tories and Labour, screw up and you’re gone. Reform coming second , which is where they do in polling outside of London and Scotland would send a shockwave through our political system, which is what is desperately needed.
If you want change, you have to actually change, and that means stop flicking between the 2 main parties, or you just get what you have before.

What I want to know is can I call Farage a cunt loudly in public without being arrested and charged?
‘Cause I’d far rather do that than throw something at him.

I am pretty much OK with soft stuff like milkshakes and eggs as a form of protest. Provided the intention is clearly not to harm. Rocks are a step too far.

Where will Nigel be having objects thrown at him today?

Charge him with what? Throwing an empty cup?
For people who can’t go through a day without mentioning The War, the far right in the UK are really soft as shite when it comes to a few flung objects.
Farage needs to man up and deal with them himself. He can ask John Prescott for tips on how to behave like you’ve got a pair.
It really comes down to how you view him. In my opinion he is a scam artist with no actual values outside of making-money guilty of treason due to his part in misleading the public around Brexit. If you view him that way him running for office is a travesty and its hard not to want to throw things at him.
On the other hand if you view him as a valid political candidate or simply are not bothered about him, then ofc this shouldn’t be happening.

Reform UK in my opinion are a hateful bunch of spiteful bigots and farts.
I don’t advocate pelting them with things (unless they’re openly neo-nazis or something). It gives them ammunition on how they’re being politically oppressed.

This is good news, the fact is all this moron has done is made Farage more popular.
I believe Reform will do a lot better than most expect, people are sick of the status quo.
For years we’ve had Labour and Lib Dem’s telling us that “diversity is our strength” when it’s been proven to be a weakness and a woeful ineffective Tory government that has promised to lower immigration only to quadruple it.
Farage is the only anti mass migration leader of a political party, Britain isn’t immune to the swing rightwards, hence why Starmer is trying hard to win over rightists, but rightists are lukewarm on him at best.
2024 is a shift, Reform rising, Trump.2, European swinging right is all backlash against the status quo and a desire for a major reset away from the liberal 2010s
Liberal governments a cross the west or whatever government we’ve had in recent years, have only silenced the debate, only natural people will turn to those who’ll listen, the liberals and the left as a whole have dropped the ball on the immigration debate

Just want to highlight the heading here. I don’t recall headlines referring to any other parry leader as ‘far-left/right’ they all usually get referred to as ‘leader of X party’. The reason they’ve gone with ‘far-right’ instead of ‘reform party leader’ is pure propaganda and designed to make people think ‘bad person’ as soon as its read.

I really struggle to condemn this kind of behaviour because I feel like the [paradox of tolerance](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance) applies here.
