Yep, I get it.

you have had a hard night on the drink and need a feed.

But, do you seriously have to be filthy pigs and leave your rubbish all over the place?

How would you like it if everyone started dumping their rubbish all over your yard?

This one time, I got on a train, and someone had left rubbish like this strewn around the area where the disabled seating is. I sat at a distance and was disgusted by other peoples behaviour. Then some other punter got on, quickly grabbed the rubbish and tossed it as they got off next station like it was no big deal. At the next station I marvelled at how people got on an sat down, not knowing rubbish was ever there. Amazing.

  2. It was mardi gras last night, there were over 100,000 people in the city. This isn’t a daily occurrence.

Yes littering is bad, but if the bottom of Devonshire St near Central Station is “your yard”, consider yourself lucky to have one of the most well-funded local governments on earth to come and clean it up for you. Sorry you had to suffer the inconvenience of walking past it briefly.

Disgusting people. Litterers deserve a special kind of contempt and should be publicly harassed and shamed until they dispose of their rubbish properly.

This has been going on since the start of time, problem can only be fixed by cleaners early morning as the suns coming up

  5. Sick of people blaming a lack of bins as an excuse too. You have hands, hang on to it until you find a bin, it won’t kill you. Where’s the personal responsibility?
Any excuse to be entitled and lazy.

Happens new years day too. Almost like every event brings out the litterbugs.

    I know this street well..

the lack of bins is part of it.

next time you walk down george st or Pitt St.. walk the entire way and count how many bins you spot and take note of how far away they are to each other.

the reason I say this is. I have made a complaint by the lack of bins before in the CBD.

I know they have chosen to not put bins in the CBD so everybody takes their rubbish home but do you really expect drunk Saturday night party goers to all go take their rubbish home with them or do you think they will need a bin in the city to dispose of rubbish??

Surely there is money to be made in ticketing/fining these assholes.. theres no shortage of cctv that would make issuing tickets relatively easy

  9. Disgusting. I’ve never seen it this bad.

I’m glad I don’t have elderly parents visiting from out of town, or they’d have nowhere to sit on a walk.

  10. As was said this time last year and the year before. Its a conscious decision by CoS Council to not expand the (wildly insufficient) bin capacity for just one night, but pay a cleaning crew to go absolutely ham in the early hours of the morning after the event.

It is odd that this mess made it through to daylight though. In past years, this hasn’t been the case.

The Sydney CBD is always filthy these days, they don’t have cleaning staff out and about. They used to pressure clean the CBD footpaths every night, and run a big truck full of water along the gutters to flush them out .I used to see it when I working late , at 2 am ,now I can walk around , see and smell , hideous , stinking baked on ,stains on the footpath. I can navigate my way around the city just by looking at the footpath mess, and know exactly where I am . Fortunately there are ordinary people that collect bottles for recycling .At least they take away some of the garbage.
The City of Sydney has lots of rate payers money to fund support for overseas political causes, they can’t even clean their own streets, they want to fix centuries old disputes on the other side of the planet instead.

  12. Surely it’s cheaper to put decent bins in more places than address the rats and bin chickens?

  13. Seriously hate posts like this. It will be cleaned up in no time. This is what happens after one of the biggest parties of the year, get over it.

Do you say the same thing after New Years Eve or is your ire purely directed at Mardi Gras?

council surely aware the transport was running 24 hours, and didnt put on any more cleaners?

  16. Sydney CBD and the trains are becoming more filthy than usual.
Suggest to send this video to Sydney City Council.

Walk along this street early on Monday morning and you’ll find similar.

It’s not really limited to major events, just made worse by sheer numbers of people ..

I genuinely can’t understand Australians and the foreigner who come here. It is so fucking easy to put your rubbish in the bin.

If you litter I hope you stub your toe daily doe the rest of your life.
