At this point, I don’t even care what the review says. But the fact they wanted to kept it secret, and it promptly gets leaked. Its just glorious.

Was hoping someone in the Liberal party would do the right thing and leak it.
I’m not a liberal voter. Bit too progressive for their policy stances, but the liberal party is by FAR the better option as an opposition than One Nation. The Liberal party needs to be strong to be a better opposition which is better for Australia overall.
Leaking this review is a good first step is acknowledging the issues wrong with the Liberal party so that they can come to terms with it, address it, and be stronger.

“Young people, women and non-English speaking Australians turned on the party, leading to the lowest vote in its history” so their voter base is old conservative white guys? Their party is now old conservative white guys. Checks out but they still can’t see it.
Short version – Everyone thought Dutton was a c**t. Everyone knew that everyone thought Dutton was a c**t. All of the people SPECIFICALLY tasked with communicating to Dutton that everyone thought he was a c**t failed spectacularly to do their jobs.
Amusing that it got leaked already.
How foolish of me. I assumed that the reason Dutton threatened to sue if it was released was because he was protecting the people who worked for him and their future political careers. Nope, the guy just doesn’t want everyone to know how incompetent he actually is.
While the book doesn’t cover the review for obvious reasons, Niki Savva’s *Earthquake* does a great job covering the 2025 election, and has a bunch of insider info on why the LNP imploded.
That’s also a clear indication of how Duttplug would have run the country.
What the fuck, it’s leaked *already*? They only said they weren’t releasing it a couple of days ago! Maybe Ley left a copy in the rubbish bin.
Any report is going to say 4 things:
1) As in the last election, the party failed to appeal to young people, women, etc. (Nothing will be done here because that would involve effort and they already tried putting a woman in charge).
2) The lack of concrete policy hurt them (nothing will be done here, requires effort).
3) Dutton was pretty terrible at internal and external communication (no worries. The voters took care of that problem).
4) the supporting cast were terrible and gave Dutton nothing to work with (bit of an issue there as they’re now in charge of the party).
The Liberal Party never came to terms with losing power in ’07 and they’ve fundamentally refused to change our adapt. It took a miracle (and the mother of all screw ups by Labor) to let them back in. Somehow they’ve become convinced that they don’t actually need to change and it’s killed the party stone dead. These reviews are only every going to fall on deaf ears.
Journalist Niki Savva’s book, Earthquake, is about the behind the scenes of the 2025 election and largely points to the same conclusion. Labor ran a really tight, disciplined ship, but they were definitely helped by the Coalition repeatedly shooting itself in the dick.
Anyway I just wanted to say it was a good read, but you can probably get all the juicy bits by just reading the Review now that its leaked
