The Iranian regime under Khamenei was brutal and oppressive. He will not be missed but we dont yet know who or what will replace him. Of considerably more concern is that this is the 2nd time in as many months that Trump has unilaterally removed the leader of another country in an act of agression. He will not stop here because he has suffered zero consequences so far, from his posturing I’d guess Cuba is next. Trump and his cabal of grifters have gone rogue, we are in uncharted territory now with a global super power that no longer abides by any international convention and fears no repercussion. Australia should have no part in this.
Trump needs something to get away from the slipping popularity towards midterms and Epstein files, Israel needed dominance in middle east from inception, Australia need to get busy on anything else but cost of living or taxing the oil man – instant best buds.

I had a lot of respect for Penny Wong when she was in opposition, she seemed like someone who had a strong sense of integrity and character that seemed to be missing in the wider political realm. It’s pretty disappointing to see this sort of capitulation regarding the Middle East and USA/Israel in the last several months
Who cares. Iran’s leadership are murderous, terrorism-supporting tyrants who don’t DGAF about international law and commit war crimes and terrorist acts with indifference (including in our own country) – yet strike against them and people start calling out the “legality”. Fuck ‘em.
This thread makes me realise why most posts around these 2 regions have their comments locked. The amount of obvious foreign bots with dodgy histories flooding this website will make it irrelevant in a few years. 90% of the wider internet and people in real life already mock people who use this site religiously.

Iran is lashing out. Pakistan apparently declared a state of war with Afghanistan. Everyone is walking on eggshells trying to second guess what the fallout will be, and Trump seems oblivious to what he has done.
The secondary economic damage alone has potential to be severe, even if EVERYONE takes three steps back and calms the fuck down.
Australia would be best served paying a whole lot of attention to local matters for a little bit. Let the world calm down.
