      I despise the US thinking it can just do whatever it wants. But i agree with Macron here, Iran seems to be just hitting every country around it even those who had nothing to do with this. We should defend our allies in the region.

      What are they deploying there for? To contribute to rust pollution in the eastern Mediterranean?

      Btw the Iranian people do remember that they have to thank France sending them Khomeini on an Air France flight and providing a critical contribution to bringing about 50 years of brutal oppression. I would say it’s about time they took steps to atone for that, but on the other hand I don’t think anyone wants France’s flavor of “help” on regime change.

      We are getting dragged into a war by a country that was threathening of invading Greenland not even two months ago, and by another that is observer member of the pro-russian party in the european parliament. That’s beyond ridiculous. Iran being hostile as well is not a reason good enough to help those who want to destroy the EU.

      And to worsen it, we will get hurt economically from the oil crisis whereas the russian economy will have fresh air.

      Right now there are two options. Let them do whatever they want. Or take the lead away from them and bring some order to this world.

      The Iranians hate the Ayatollah. They hate the Israelis. They hate the Americans. ALL FOR GOOD REASONS.

      Why can the EU not step in and provide them security and economic guarantees for nuclear guarantees? Would this not take away an ally from Russia?

      It’s gonna take at least 5-7 days for aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to get to eastern Mediterranean, by that time it’s highly likely the war is over. But still better to have strategic assets in the region in case they are needed. Turkey, Greece, Italy and Cyprus are all in range of Iranian missiles and drones.

      For the brain geniuses here, besides bombing various hotels and apartment buildings in random Gulf states, the regime also hit a French base in the Emirates today. This is generally considered a no-no. Hope this helps.

      Edit: I’m a bit out of the loop, apparently German Bundeswehr camps in Jordan and Iraq have been hit, too. So yeah.

      Everyone is on Iran. Iran has been funding anti shia organisation from Iraq serria saudi yaman Egypt and of house Israel for years. Looks like everyone’s jumping on them when they are down.

      Not really surprising, having assets not too far is always a good idea.

      We shouldn’t take a side, but we do have countries with defence agreement out there, and petrol flowing through the Gulf is kind of important…

      Same if the Houthis decide to join in the party.

      This is a war that was illegally war started by America and Israel and not a single strong condemnation by the EU. Trump doesn’t respect lapdogs . He’s going to treat you like Bush treated Tony Blair. And the EU is going to have another refugee crisis because of all this .

      This was already at least partly planned. It just set sail on a tour around Europe. It was just near Sweden (as planned) when that Russian drone got brought down. The carrier was already planning on going to the Mediterranean next. But it’s planned route has probably been extended eastward…

      The Americans have positioned their aircraft and aircraft carriers all around Iran for almost a month.

      It’s crazy to think that we (France) waited until the situation really exploded before considering moving our own aircraft carrier to the area (to protect our citizens, our interests, and our allies) …
