  1. Even if you hate the regime, getting bombed will only set you back big time.

They love to hit expensive infrastructure that takes years to build, and it’s not like they’ll allow a new regime that’s left wing and will help people out.

  2. The problem with the media narrative all over the West right now is that diaspora, pro-monarchy (even pro-US/Israel), voices are being presented as if they represent not only the people living abroad but also all of the 90,000,000 people in Iran.

There is a proportion of the population that totally supports the government. There is also a proportion of the population who is totally against the government. And, *shockingly*, there are groups that fall in between those extremes.

Both Bibi and Trump have called on the population inside Iran to take down their government now.

That doesn’t seem to be happening.

It doesn’t help when the western media is as believable as any “state-funded media.”

It’s 2026. We should have a far more advanced understanding of the level of propaganda we are hit with in the West.

Joy and sadness as I’ve not hared from my family in Tehran since the war began

  4. It’s a bit like asking the expat Taiwanese how they feel about Mainland China getting invaded by the US for a regime change. The expat Iranians are the intellectuals/elites with often a different faith to those that remained in Iran. While they’d be happy that the communists are being pummeled, there’s also the realisation they can’t just walk back in and take over. It’s been a generation and more of indoctrinations and by sheer size of population difference they cannot undo the last 50yrs in a flash, or likely in their lifetimes. The veneration of the Shah is a prime example. He was hardly a saint, just one group of rulers replaced by another in a power struggle. A whole group of elites being replaced like in Egypt and Iraq. The common folks are very different to the expats, eg their faith.

  5. It’s absolutely killing the ABC to show Persian, Israeli and Australian flags waved together at joyful public celebrations, and I am so down for it. 🙂

Iran just committed political genocide against its own people and was actively sponsoring terrorism. I get a lot of people will instantly react because of who is involved, but the Iranian diaspora has aright to be happy. We also have video of Iranians inside Iran openly celebrating.

We can go by recent past and see the countries America tried to ‘SPREAD DEMOCRACY’
    – Afganistán- now in the hands of taliban again
    – Iraq – total shitshow, oil money goes through American central bank so they control all money.
    – Libya – shitshow and untouched
    – Syria – liberated and bombed every other week.

Does anyone with an honest opinion say it’s going to be the same for Iran? How can ANY FKN PERSON cheer for any type of death?!

We watched a genocide for the last 2 years and they gaslight all of us saying the lives of 1700 is worse than 100k plus deaths?
And now they attack a ‘ HEAVILY SANCTIONED’ sovereign nation after they said they will go after US bases

  8. Iranian here. We are very happy. I know it is hard to understand how this is possible when you have not lived through an oppressive regime yourself. While the future is uncertain, we knew there was no reasoning or diplomacy with the regime. They took our country with violence, and the only thing they will respond to is unfortunately violence.

I am worried for family and friends in Iran, but if it is dying at the hand of Israel/US whose interests align with our own, or at the hands of our own government, many are happy to make the sacrifice.

  9. Hang on. Didn’t we just pass legislation to stop hate speech? Would the celebration of the assassination of Neteyahu be allowed, or is it OK?
