«David Rossi was killed: hung in the air and dropped», the turning point of the parliamentary commission, the prosecutor’s office reopens the case (Davide Rossi was a manager of Monte Paschi di Siena who died 13 years ago in mysterious circumstances)

This case is one of the Italian mysteries, the blessed young men (or poorly informed) will not remember it but it happened during the controversies related to the acquisition of Antoveneta from Santander.

I could be wrong because I’m going more or less from memory, Santander had bought Antonveneta and shortly after sold it to MPS making a large capital gain (3-4 billion?) in 2006/2007, a cash transaction (not paper on paper) with a large – and dubious – recapitalization made then. Then there was the debt crisis in 2008/09 and MPS was full of debt which "he hid"or rather, moved over time with derivative instruments.

In 2012/2013 the debt, the scandal re-emerges, the government is forced to issue bonds to recapitalize etc..

And right around that time Davide Rossi died, there was immediate talk of suicide, I don’t remember which of the thousand podcasts/articles I heard/read but the circumstances were mysterious already at the time because the watch strap was found broken and next to Rossi’s body. A little strange for someone who commits suicide to fall after the watch or tear the strap (it was said that it was possible anyway). Then there was the controversy of the time spent on the ground (20 minutes) without anyone calling for help, despite internally knowing what had happened.

And now here we are:

President Gianluca Vinci uses the word “murder”: “In the mid-term report, the hypothesis of suicide is definitively excluded and from the findings it is noted that it was a murder.”

Before – he explains – there were two hypotheses of injuries from a fight or a fall and today, thanks to a better examination of the video from that evening which led to the exclusion of the watch on the wrist at the time of the fall, it was possible to exclude that those injuries to the wrist were caused by the fall to the ground. So the fight inside the office remains.”

All investigations carried out to date agree on one point: Rossi’s agony, after the fall, lasted about 20 minutes, an infinite amount of time during which perhaps he could have been saved if someone had raised the alarm.

Meanwhile, the file opened in Siena is already sparking controversy: «Inappropriate and wrong decision – says Walter Rizzetto (FdI), first proponent of the commission of inquiry into Rossi and president of the Chamber’s Labor commission – the new phase of the investigation cannot be entrusted to the same office that has already conducted the first investigations. It is indisputable that there were violations of procedural rules that compromised the establishment of the facts. Out of respect for the family, public opinion and the judiciary itself, the Prosecutor’s Office itself should abstain from the new investigation which must arise in a context free from shadows and any possible conflict, even if only perceived. Only in this way will it be possible to arrive at a full and definitive ascertainment of the truth.”
