As should be the case.
It’s insane that a council would see people in the worst circumstances of their life and rather that attempting to help them, make their life more difficult because it’s not the visual they like.
Nobody wants to live in a tent.
The City of Moreton Bay has an absolute eyesore right next to the Petrie train station. It seems a complete no brainer to build affordable housing there

The environment for Human Rights in Queensland feels quite grim under the current governments.

Sooo let’s see some jail sentences for the persons in charge ordering them to be moved on.

There needs to be more kindness towards the homeless. People should be kind to other people just out of principle because they’re human beings and scaring them with stuff like this leaves long lasting scars.
I think it’s stupid that the people doing bad things to the homeless are doing it (as if life could never go wrong for them). All it takes is an accident that disables you, a rent rise or an eviction into the cutthroat housing market and things can end up really scary and awful.
We need more affordable and public housing ASAP I don’t get why it’s not like a super mega priority.

So who loses their job? Who’s going to jail?

I dont like seeing homeless campers, but the solution isnt to just tell them to move somewhere else out of their juristiction, its to have actual, working infrastructure and programs in place so they have somewhere safe to sleep at night.
Yes, some of these are crazy unstable people, but hell, there are quite a few homeless people I see when im going to the shops that are just down on their luck and right now once your homeless, your kinda fucked.
And if they are the methed out of their mind, crazy types that try to break everything they get their hands on, they would be better off in a mental ward in a hospital being treated rather then out in the streets at 8pm trying to start fights by the train station.

So, will the councillors who voted for this action be prosecuted?

As a Moreton Bay resident, I’d like to say that I’m quite pleased that the Supreme Court ruled that human rights had been violated.
So let’s be very clear, under Mayor Peter Flannery’s leadership council violated the human rights of its most vulnerable people, destroyed their shelter and possessions, and further condemned them to poverty.

There are CEO pedophiles running companies and countries while we are told to believe homeless people are a stain to society.
