I was just reading this: https://www.fr.de/panorama/in-china-schon-standard-gastro-trend-breitet-sich-in-deutschen-staedten-aus-zr-94185513.html (archive link: https://archive.ph/ASC0V)

It’s about a coffee chain from China which is "conquering" the German market. They offer very cheap coffee (eg Espresso for 0.99€). To achieve that, they are relying on app pre-order and also small, minimalist stores with only the bare minimum of interaction.

As far as I’m concerned, this sounds just perfect. When I’d like to have coffee, I’m usually not interested in a chat with the personnel. And if I’d be interested, I could go to higher class "establishments".

What’s your take? Would such an innovative concept have any chance at all in Switzerland?

Ah yes, chinese coffe stores, that’s what we have been waiting for here! Will definitely be high qualiry coffee as well for that price. At that point you can just pre order it in mcdrive. Fuck off with that!!!

they are just gonna undermine the competition price wise and then raise prices once they have a bigger market share

Did you consider brewing a coffee at home and take it with you in a reusable mug?

I do this for years now and when calculating what I have saved in 5 years – it is impressive.

You can get coffee at Lidl for CHF 1at their vending machine and it’s not even bad.
