Hi all, firstly to address the imminent 'You are a Karen' accusations ill just say, yeah you are right, as I get older it seems to be creeping up on me… same with bird watching and throw pillows. I do not feel shame about it. But I digress.
I live in a street on the south side that has another jail like house being built by this company, and tbh they are a nightmare… I can't name to much of the really annoying shit they have done cause they will know who's posting and where I live but my cheif complaint at the moment is the excessive rubbish on the site.
They throw their cans and rubbish from the 4th floor down to the ground, which is still in various stages of construction.. everyday I come home and have to pick up so much plastic and rubbish that's blown over to our yard. But it's all over the street as well.. we live next to a waterway as well so I often see their rubbish going into the river…
They have a big bin on site but it's been long full and they have just been sticking more rubbish up against it, and I suppose throwing it around the boundries of the site.
As you can see the fencing doesn't stop any rubbish from being spread everywhere… the men on site at at height in thongs and all sorts of terrible safety stuff happens there.
As you can see in the photo they leave the site open all night they don't even have a full fence… they have a whole bunch of materials there in pallets waiting to be used that could be easily stolen..
I googled the company and to my surprise I found out that sometime last year a man died on their site and they kept pouring the same day??
You would think with such a terrible incident they would take safety seriously and idk.. actually dispose of rubbish and trip hazards.
Anyways.. any advice? Looked up who to complain to and the council doesn't seem to have any info of construction sites in general and since I'm not an employee I'm not sure Fair work would be appropriate either.
Thanks for listening and look… if you have any advice pls comment or feel free to message me if you say..need the adress… for any reason….. š

Looks like every other construction site i have ever delivered to.
Looks like they’re mid-construction; they’ll clean it up before it’s finished. Is this really impacting you?
Donāt have anything useful to say, but hooooooly hell thatās terrible. No way in hell is leaving the skip like that is okay, not to mention everything else.
Hope you can get council to do something about them. š maybe you can go on the waterway angle? Make sure you document the littering in the drains if itās obvious that itās from them.
If it’s pouring into a waterway, contact council with photos and proof
Take tonnes of photos and send them to your local councillor
Rubbish all up and down the street? Photos and go have a chat with council, in person, get the boss in the office āŗļø if it gets shrugged off or nothing happens, probably means the councilor and developer are kissing each other’s d**K, in that case, reach out to a state level mp in your area. It’s a pain, had to deal with it a while back too.
I’ve had to deal with asshole construction companies and I’ve found that BCC are super keen to come after them.
The ones I had to deal with were obstructing the footpath, and they were told the same day by BCC to rectify it and never let it happen againI bet these guys would be done for littering at the very least.
Karen is just a slur for any woman who stands up for herself. The rubbish is excessive and shouldn’t be allowed to blow onto everyone else’s properties and into waterways. But I don’t know who to contact about it, sorry.
Call the builder an make a complaint
Call the Site Manager and say can you get the boys to clean up a bit better. Also tell him the skip is full.
Thereās literally two numbers on the sign you can call.
Safe Work QLD would interested.
It is a damn shame they haven’t listed any contact names or phone numbers anywhere. If only there was a massive sign that included the company details, or a site manager’s name and mobile phone number.
If there was you could contact the site manager as a first step. If they weren’t helpful, you could then give council a call.
People here are a bunch of dicks. I’ve worked with a lot of construction company’s and the good ones keep clean and tidy sites (within reason obviously). It’s a safety issue for their workers, if nothing else. Try going the safety angle and calling safe work.
Call Worksafe. I can see rotten scaff legs. They will get fined royally.
Call worksafe if you see unsafe work practices. EPA for rubbish. Thatās all you can do
Building waste has to be managed and the construction site must remain tidy per the Australian standard. They also have to secure the site so that would also be noncompliant. Pretty common unfortunately.
That makes the construction sites at Bali look better.
Make a complaint to BCC for matters relation to rubbish and pollution escaping the property. They have an anonymous online form if you google it. Take photo evidence of the rubbish leaving the site. BCC will not care if the actual building site is messy.
Then contact workplace health and safety where the job site is dangerous. This includes throwing objects from the roof, unsafe scaffolding, tripping hazards on the ground from all the rubbish. They would be right up the ass of the builder if what you said was true about a death on one of their other sites.
The QBCC will not care about stuff like this unfortunately.
Bruh, why are you asking people what to do when all the sound advice youāve been given is ānot tenable.ā Get a grip and suck it up
Think of the trades and workers who have to show up and work in this shit, as a residential scaffolder this type of site is a standard. Itās either work through the rubbish or donāt get paid. The builders need to do more, itās a bloody health hazard some of the shit we go through onsite to get a job done.
You should see the state of the porterlooās were supplied. That alone is a ridiculous! I always feel for the neighbours copping the blow off from lazy builders
Iād be pissed off too. That site is a disgrace. Cheap cunts that donāt want to pay for another skip.
I remember doing work experience for a company last year for carpentry, but instead they had me cleaning site instead, and yeah it looked quite similar to this in regards to mess, although not quite as bad.
Iām also on the Southside and we had issues with the builders next door working after hours – I had 2 newborns and was already a bit overwhelmed and this didnāt help. I reminded them they were working after hours and were loud (with a baby in my hands for emphasis) and they ignored me and kept working.
I took a video of them making noise (so it was time and date stamped) and reported to the city council. Council were incredibly prompt and helpful. The builders denied anyone there after hours, the council worker informed them they had a video of the noise, the time and the people causing the noise and if it happened again they were facing quite large fine. It never happened again. Would recommend.
You can also contact QBCC and lodge a complaint.
Good luck.
Is snap send solve still a thing? It’s an app that lets you take photos like you have here and send them to various parties e.g local council, environmental protection agency, QLD Workplace Health and Safety etc
EPA would most likely want to know about the rubbish going everywhere.
Send your photos to QBCC.
Get some photos of clowns on site in thongs or video throwing shit off a 4th floor and send them to wHSQ
Finally snap send solve the rubbish and tag it as illegal dumping.
Then shoot an e-mail to your local Councillor.
Full court press, you have a once in a lifetime opportunity to shower them with fines, unwanted attention and a safety audit.
Once thatās all done, call the black hats and see if they can sign some of the lads up. Thatāll put a stop to most of that nonsense.
They would need a building permit and there will be a Registered Building Surveyor who issued the permit. All construction sites have to have the building permit displayed on the hoarding (although I am in Victoria so maybe it’s different in Brisbane?). You should be able to contact the RBS and send them the evidence. They have the power to stop construction until it has been rectified.
I hope that helps.
BCC for sediment control and rubbish.
WPHSQ for safety.
QBCC for safety too, but they will probably do fuck all.
