What an over reaction. Hope they put as much effort into disrupting illegal tobacco and firearms.

    Melatonin : nay

    Huh?

“If it still needs to be scripted, that’s fine … but $300 is taking the piss.”

    Wanker cops

Here’s something that’s not illegal but people are consuming it

Dry bread and water for everyone only, within the daily allowance only

  4. Important to note that when I bought imported melatonin it had enough vitamin B6 in it to cause nerve damage.

And they’re still on sale on iherb.

Man people really have no idea how powerful the pharmacy guild in Australia is.

If you need to ask yourself why you pay $15 for a pack of ibuprofen and not $3 this is why.

  6. Oh great, probably just wasted $50 from Bioeva didn’t it.

I can walk into Chemist Warehouse and get the piddly 2mg tablets, after being second guessed by a 24 year old junior pharmacist, but can’t stock up online? OK whatever..

It amazes me how little we talk about the problem of intermittent prescription. Doctors can’t prescribe melatonin for more than three months at a time, which forces an enormous amount of people with a gamut of chronic issues to order from overseas. This has been an issue for decades, which we could fix with enough research into the long-term effects or exogenous melatonin, we just don’t.

This is incredibly common too. Just the neurodivergent conditions that restrict the brain’s natural melatonin averages out to one person for every few households. Never mind insomnia, neural conditions, mental illness, lifestyle factors …

What a fucking joke this is, its melatonin you idiots , zero harm.
Do some actual work that benefits the community

  9. OMG melatonin?!?! Let me look up what kind of dangerous gateway drug this is. Oh, wait…

Melatonin? Like it’s a dangerous drug? Available in the US, on prescription in UK & NZ.

  11. I don’t know if Border Force considere this a victory, but to me, it just raises more questions.

“Yeah chief, the kids’re rollin melatonin in honey and shovin em up their ass hole, they callin it melaholin. Just last week, teacher found a 13 year old girl, sleeping peacefully in the class room. Had to say her name twice just to get her to wake up”

  13. Maybe they should check with Israel first, just in case Israel wanted them to not be seized.
Or can I take it that Israel wanted them seized?

  14. Passionofthegrape on

This is to protect the local GP/chemist scam of charging you an absolute fortune for something that used to cost almost nothing.

  15. It costs me 80$ for my generic prescription of melatonin….

But I keep saying alot of junkies on the streets these days.

Surely there are more pressing actual tangible problems to solve.

Can’t watch porn, can’t have melatonin, can’t listen to John Farnham… WHEN ARE WE GONNA STAND UP AUSTRALIA

  17. Fucking useless police and their ilk like border force in this country.

I get broken into or assaulted they provide zero fucking help. I try to import melatonin to sleep I’ll get raked over the coals.

  18. Bruh in canada you can buy this off the shelf in iga/safeway/ servos lmao. Aus is so far behind

  19. And then they sell a homeopathic “melatonin” over-the-counter. Should be illegal to call a placebo melatonin.

What a fucking joke of a country. I work full time 9 hour shifts and get up 5:30 in the morning, I struggle with sleep and have for years, but god fucking forbid I want a good nights sleep so that I can work efficiently to pay taxes to this fucking government.

We have a legit prescription for it from my daughter’s pediatrician for a few years now. When we first got it, they told us to just get it off Iherb because it was so much cheaper. I was just able to get about a year’s supply from iherb for way less than a month’s supply through a local chemist.

  22. the melatonin crack down is so strange to me. is there a study I’ve missed where it’s super bad for you?

  23. Ciggie wars, stabbings by engineers and they go after melatonin.

    Fucking what a flop.

  24. mrbrendanblack on

I’m so glad that the Australian Border Force is there to protect us all from having a good night’s sleep.
