Cheaper to build now than in 30 years time when it will be overcrowded on day one.

Good. It’ll help reduce Melbourne’s awful urban sprawl and led people will have to spend 1.5-2h driving to get anywhere!

Pretty dubious given nothing on the project has changed. Guess they figured the Eastern leg is getting built now either way, might as well retrospectively bless the beer coaster it was sketched up on.

Funny thing is a lot of bad faith , political opposition to this project was based on what infrastructure Australia had said up to that point. Now the project is given overwhelming support by the same authority, goal posts will shift.
I still think Liberal/National/One Nation government will try to fill the tunnels with concrete to own Dan Andrews. Thats how stupid they are.

Every well planned major city has a rail loop. Singapore, HK, London, NY, Beijing etc. Why the opposition, I just don’t get the negativity?

Good to see the Nation Building Authority give it the tick of approval!
