  1. It’s crazy to think that there are more people alive than there are people on Earth.

  2. I wonder what the date would be if “on the planet” didn’t include airplanes. 40’s? 30’s maybe?

So when I first saw this, I just glanced and read it as “the last time ALL human beings were on the International Space Station”. Like ever since then, Roger from American Dad has been up there drinking and sexually harassing the astronauts.

  4. Yes, I remember watching Expedition-1 being launched and thinking to myself it could be the last moment there was no human in space.

  5. ISS is only 250 miles away though sooo people on remote islands are much farther away from everyone else than those on the ISS

  6. 2000 had just a short period of 5 months where all humans were together on earth, as the Mir was Just abandoned in june. But it is indeed possible that this was the last time.

I’m sure there’s always someone in the middle of a jump, or on a plane, or skydiving etc

Everyone is space. Just some people are on a space station and the rest of us are on earth, but we’re all in space. </pedantry>

  9. If this is a permanent fixture of humanity, that there’s at least someone offworld, I bet that date will be remembered.

The ISS is practically hugging the earth. Call me if we ever get on the moon again.

And a reminder that, since 2021, China has had three of their own astronauts up there at any given time!

  13. “Since then at least one person has remained on the international space station”

Untrue. More than half a dozen times the ISS has been uninhabited while a 3 person crew all got into their Soyuz vehicle to move it from one docking port to another. Not for long…..but the ISS has been uninhabited several times. There has been a continual human presence in space since Expedition 1 launched to ISS November 2000
