The prosecutor’s office started a pre-trial investigation into the purchase of Gedvil’s real estate

“During the pre-trial investigation, the aim will be to determine whether the actions of the member of the Seimas Aidas Gedvilas and the responsible persons of one closed joint-stock company during the acquisition and transfer of real estate in Vilnius did not commit criminal acts,” the General Prosecutor’s Office announced on Monday.

The investigation was initiated in accordance with the articles of the Criminal Code, which provide for responsibility for illegal enrichment and providing incorrect data on income, profit or assets.

As noted by the prosecutor’s office, the investigation was started after examining the reports received in the media about the investigation conducted by the investigative journalism center “Siena” and its conclusions, published in the media on March 9.

This investigation by journalists showed that A. Gedvilas built a house with the funds of his company, possibly in order to avoid taxes.
