Hi everyone!
I recently discovered a Maltese song called “Porporina” by Birkirinu & Cher Camilleriand I absolutely love it. The melody is beautiful, but I couldn’t find the lyrics anywhere online.
I don’t speak Maltese, so I’m really curious about what the song is about and what the lyrics mean. Could anyone help explain the meaning or maybe share the lyrics if you know them?
Thanks a lot!
Can someone explain the meaning of the Maltese song ‘Porporina’?

Shame that one cannot find lyrics to some of the Brikkuni songs. Had the same problem. Tried to listen to the song to get the gist of it (I’m Maltese), but I couldn’t. Need to be more focused 😂
as far i know its the maltese word for potpourri
Both my father and myself refer to a specific paint as porporina. It used to be silver metallic coloured, nowadays you find it under the name Silvium from Hempel. As I understand, the word refers to something shiny/metallic.
Unrelated but there was / is Maltese career criminal nicknamed Il-Porporina
I’m told if three of us or more hold hands and chant “Marju! Marju! Marju!” Three times in front of a mirror, the spirit of Brikkuni will bless us with the lyrics of said song.
