My cat is asleep, so we’re fine. Best of luck to you and everyone impacted.

Stay safe! I’m way down the coast but following with interest and thinking of everyone in her path.

I’m well out of the zone, but all the best to you. Stay safe.

I’m out of the impact zone, but it’s already getting a bit blowy. I’ll bring the pot plans and outdoor furniture inside shortly and wind up the awning.
Flooding is a bit of a concern. The creeks and rivers are already charged from half a metre of rain last weekend. You can watch what happens when another metre or so goes over the [Baron Falls](https://skyrail.com.au/experience/live-stream/barron-falls/) in the next few days.
Stay safe everyone.

You’re at Groote? Pack her up, head to mainland and south.
Good luck, stay safe.

Can you leave..? Is that an option? How elevated is your house?
Thankfully I’m further south though my town and others have already had 2 or 3 floods so far this year.
As someone who’s a bit of a tropical weather nerd I’m worried about the inundation and how long this storm (and the consequences) will last for,

Poor Katherine/Daily region did not need this after earlier in the month’s Flooding events.
You mean it’s going to miss the south-east? Booooo!

Yeah we’re battering down the hatches in Adelaide expecting destruction not seen since the last earthquake

You’ll be fine at Groote, I’m more concerned for the people on the east coast, they’re the ones that are going to cop the full force.

In cairns, but i should be relatively okay even if it turns south, have a whole rainforest to block the wind, and live on the side of mountain so flooding isn’t an issue. Still have backup water and power just incase though.

Id recommend getting a little gas stove if you dont have one. BCF has some good meal packs that can be heated by boiling water or a heat pack like an MRE too, though a little pricey

I thought this was the potential aurora path at first glance – being in Sydney I will see neither it nor the cyclone but my thoughts are with you northerners, I hope it is nothing near as spectacular as the light show may be to the south.

I went through the Cat 1 cyclone last year and can’t imagine what a Cat 5 looks like. Hitting in a remote part. Buckle up, hunker down and stay safe my VFNQ friends.

Goodluck! I’ve been through a category 3 cyclone and when those wind gusts kicked in it was intense. Category 5 is madness!! I hope you have everything you need if you’re staying! Update us when you can. Stay safe!

According to channel 9’s Sunrise this morning, Cooktown has been evacuated.
Obviously I’m so anti-social, the entire town forgot to tell me. 😀 😀
Seriously tho, we’re starting to get some wild weather now, which I know will ramp up tomorrow. We’re not in the path, but we’ll get some of the high winds and rain. Expecting some power outages, but that’s about it.

Serious question, how do we pronounce Groote Eylandt here? It’s obviously the Dutch word for “large island”, and would be pronounced Hrow-teh Eye-landt with the rough G. I assume we botch that pronunciation somewhat, as we do with Kosciuszko.
