      Europe had 3 years since the last energy crisis to build alternatives and didn’t, so now one missile hit does the same thing Russia did in 2022 except faster

      Sooooo when do we start properly acknowledging that this Iran War is actually just another part of the MAGA (Russia) attack on Europe?

      This war is going to make Europe even more dependent on US LNG, make it more likely that the right wing parties MAGA supports will get elected (because of higher energy costs and inflation) and make it more likely for Europe to want to get back on the Russia LNG teat.

      US is conducting an Economic War on Europe.

      EU should have gone full on for renewables as the Russian invasion of Ukraine hit. Instead it got the gas industry (Industry Advisory Group) to literally shape future energy policy. Et voila.

      Four years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine resulting in the first gas crisis. Now we have the war of Israel and the US against Iran.

      Genuine question: what have we done to massively invest in alternative energy sources, storage and smart consumption?

      I know, planning and building infrastructure takes time, often more than four years, but apart from some vague intentions and plans, I don’t see a rapid shift to steer away from oil and gas dependency. What I did see: a shift from Russia to the US for our gas imports. Turns out to be just as bad. 

      And steered consumption is low hanging fruit. We have excessively high gas prices, influencing electricity price too, but the latter is also highly fluctual during the day. Springtime is coming, meaning often a combination of wind and lots of sun. We already see negative prices during the day now. Feels like we’re not exploiting that enough.

      Well past time to get more turbines, storage and solar in place – as well as upgrading the grid. All of them have been on an increasingly upward trajectory for a decade; time to turn that into a straight vertical line.

      Shell (UK) and QatarEnergy signed a 27-year deal to import 3.5M tons per year of LNG to the UK.

      Deliveries were supposed to start *this year.* 🫤
