Now we all have or know someone who’s bought a book or eaten at Govinda’s Restaurant in the day. I know I did!
But there’s something about the tense times we’re living in and the counter punch to that by the Krishna’s today.
Always brings a smile to my face.
Happy Friday everyone.

Man i used to love mowing them down on gta 2
Say what you want about them, but the kofta balls are amazing.
May whatever higher powers be bless em for it hey. Good share dude, glad I saw this.
Wait, when did the Hare Krishna’s start using an accordion?! 😳
Remember when they danced and sang around the city every Friday night!
Knew someone who grew up in the religion. It’s not a good thing.
they use tactics that I don’t agree with
they act like they’re giving you a book but then ask if you can give a donation
also target lonely or desperate people by saying lame lines like “that’s what I call a hairstyle” over and over.
My broke arse in the 90s loved visiting the Hare Krishna’s for their fried golden koftas goodness.
As a former edgelord teenager in the 90s, I can’t see a line of Hare Krishnas without immediately thinking, “gotta get that GOURANGA! bonus.”
Best feed as a poor uni student
This is super Obscure but in Mexico theres a [viral video](https://youtu.be/ZR2OKlddI_M?si=oHkSOJWB8sn9Nrg8) that dates back to the mid 2000’s where a bunch of emo kids had a gathering outside a subway station and all of a sudden a bunch of metalhead kids rocked up and they all got into a punch up. Hare Krishna s came out of the subway due to totally unrelated reasons and started si going and dancing and managed to calm everyone down lolol
Good to see at least one of them wearing a hat.
My only real interaction with Hare Krishnas would have been 15 years ago in king cross and they were handing out free soup at like midnight.
Came in clutch to keep me going.
Man that was some tasty soup.
Oh wow. I miss them they qere around in the 90s all the time
Every time I see these guys it reminds me of the OG GTA game.
It’s a cult
I heard the bells yesterday doing that Hare beat and my ears turned around like ‘Whaaa? Haven’t heard the Kirshnas round here for *years*’
Nature is healing?
Isn’t that Frenzal Rhomb?
Jeez that takes me back
When you tell the judge you found god, and then you have to actually prove it 🤣
The last three…
I’d love to see the Seventh Day Adventists do the same in the name of Jesus. They are vegetarians as well. 🙂
Well… at least they look happy. I guess.
Serious question but why are most Hare Krishna’s members that I see in the city or see in the news are of Caucasian appearance?
Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna man you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allen Poe
I love it when street performers are out spreading good vibes. We need more of it!
We haven’t seen much of them since before Covid. A couple of their restaurants closed down during Covid.
Used to get all you can eat vege meal from their cafe in the 90s for 5 bucks. So good for a student. Good on them.
Annoys me so much how this movement was co-opted by shitheads and became like a cult. For the most part devoting life to worshipping Krishna was supposed to be a peaceful and positive thing. Some of these communities still are just devotional communities for people to come together, eat, sing and be chill.

I was shocked to see their van the other day
I just want the kofta balls back.
As a Hindu, its not a good thing.
Hinduism preaches the practice of spirituality as a personal journey. What Hare Krishna does it the opposite, and its a cult.
Gouranga!
Viva Las Vedas!

They are harmless and fun people, not scolding you for not believing in one God only and not going to Church or Mosque.
Whenever I see these people, I think of [this gag](https://youtu.be/aOLxQGLJouI?si=rAi5f5OPN1eIq2GO) from Family guy where Stewie keeps saying “mum” over and over to a very exhausted looking Lois. Not Hindu but reread the Gita cover-to-cover often. Krishna seems like the kind of guy that doesn’t want his name chanted performatively. Goal is to overcome desire and practice non-action.
Love it. 😊
I go stay at one of their farm retreats every now and then. The yoga and the food are great, I skip everything else. They don’t pressure anyone to join. They’re very calm, joyful people.
