Post 2 about trip to a wedding.
Would either of these be appropriate for a wedding in Sirdal in May. I know no black, but would that apply to a black floral.
For clarification, we’re from the US and my first time in Norway.
Thanks!!!

second one
The second one with a red purse, belt, shoes or something. To honour both our flags colours, my two cents
second one
Black is becoming more normal in weddings, but ask the bride to be sure. Her opinion is what matters.
I would be more worried about the fabric of the black one. Is it a synthetic fiber? Difficult to say what the weather is like in Norway in May. It can snow some places or get close to 30 C others. If it is a warm day, then that dress must be extremely uncomfortable if it’s a synthetic fiber trapping all heat.
Edit: They both look appropriate btw.
A bit dark and dreary for a wedding, both of them. There’s no set rules, but they don’t signal any joy either.
Both look grandmotherly o O
I like the first because some varieties of Norwegian traditional dress (bunad) feature black cloth with floral designs. For example see here: https://www.lifeinnorway.net/bunad/
It’s normal for many women to wear traditional dress at weddings, and the black dress seems to nod in that direction.
I like both! I don’t think either would be inappropriate. I would probably go with the first because it reminds me of a bunad, the traditional dress of Norway, unless it’s polyester, in which case I would be a sweaty mess, so I’d go with the second one, haha.
Norwegians are usually not conservative or strict when it comes to dress code, these dresses are appropriate! Remember that it can be cold in Sirdal in May, so bring a coat

I like both but the second one – wow!
May in Norway can be any weather though, make sure you have a nice cardigan or so ready just in case.
For weddings in May people tend to wear summer-y or light colors like pastel ones or pink, orange, yellow… you get the idea.
You’re overthinking. I don’t know where you’re from, but we are in general very informal about these things. Don’t go in a white dress or something extremely inappropriate and you’ll be fine. No one will evaluate or judge your attire.
I would not think any of those two were out of place at a wedding.
