What the hell does it matter if they apologized and explained that they went astray? The damage is already done, and they should take responsibility for their mistakes. It is a really bad precedent if we allow police officers to escape punishment "because they went astray". Whether it was an honest mistake or not, it doesn’t change the fact that this verdict sets a precedent when people sue police officers for abuse of power later. If these escape responsibility because they went astray, any police officer can only claim the same if he is charged with abuse of power.

Þetta er hluti af ástæðunni fyrir því að eg ranghvolfi augunum þegar lögreglan notar rökin “við þurfum að kalla a sérsveitarmenn mun oftar en aður” til þess að auka rannsoknarheimildir og fjárútlát. Það er verið að kalla a sersveitinna í alveg fáránlegum málum
Ef þú refsar lögreglumönnum í hvert sinn sem þeir gera mistök þá enda þeir á að gera ekki neitt eða hreinlega hætta. Það gera allir mistök í vinnunni óháð starfsgrein og það á sérstaklega við þegar þú telur þig vera að díla hættulegan einstakling. Og jú maður á hækjum getur verið hættulegur.
En af öllum skandölum sem hafa fylgt lögreglunni, þá er þetta með því vægasta.
Við skulum refsa fyrir brot í starfi, ekki mannleg mistök.
hvernig viltu refsa lögreglumönnum fyrir að handtaka rangan einstakling og hvað felst í því að bera ábyrgð á mistökum sínum? viltu fá ákveðna upphæð eða ákveðið langa fangelsislengd?

ef maðurinn hefði viljað kæra þetta sem sakamál þá hefði þetta sennilega farið aðra leið
