It wasn’t long ago that most of these NMBS trains had fold down tables in the backs of the seats. I feel like they slowly started to disappear a year or so ago to the point where I never see them anymore, which sucks!
Does anyone have any insight on where they’ve gone or whether they might return?

As someone who actually tried to do some work on the train…. It is super annoying, equally as much when you have those bus-like trains (intercity?) that only have 10cm wide tables in the 4-seat booths

My guess: too many broke, it was annoying to clean. Maybe trying to push people to first class too

Something is going on I think – yesterday there was no water to wash your hands in the toilet. Only disinfectand where the soap used to be?
Makes a great food holder for in front of the TV at home probably.
Engineers + doctors, mostly.
Ask the people who damage the materials and ask the governement who gave us less money. Don’t complain over NMBS when it’s other fault.
Maybe you get a table when making an online reservation where you can opt for it as an option (just like the options you have in a plane)?
Railworker here, it’s vandalism or accidents, i’ve no idea of the availability of the part but there is people supposed to check the train and such damages.
And no it’s not a conspiracy like someone suggested it in the comment “to push people to the first class”, if it was the goal, the company wouldn’t have ordered brand new passenger cars with tables everywhere.
