    Every 4 years the Australian Government puts out a report called ‘the State of the Environment’ and each one is more grim than the last. WA stopped doing their state based version, probably because of how embarassing it was. So they know for a fact they are making things worse. 

  3. An endemic problem in Australia, set vague goals with no real targets, do nothing of consequence, claim everything is going great when you do nothing except maintain the status quo for fear of upsetting someone

    Antractica lost most of its sea ice. We are beyond saving anything but Rupert and Stokes bank accounts.

    In the current political zeitgeist, it seems inevitable that koalas will become extinct in the wild. Such a sad, wasted opportunity for an emblematic species to be exterminated merely as an accidental, when we could stand to profit from a lucrative safari style hunting program. $100k a pelt, easy!

  6. I work in conservation and I can say comfortably that short story, no it is not on track and more accurately the track doesn’t exist anymore because it’s been cleared to make a at for a freeway.
