  1. Makes sense, I assume Sydney airport will charge the airlines higher fees for the convenience

Of course – that’s how it works, new airport, new tickets released, including the cheaper fare buckets. However act quick if you want to go because December is peak season and once those tickets from the cheaper fare buckets are gone they won’t be replenished again.

I got similar , $200 cheaper to go to Singapore during Christmas vs flying out of SYD. Not bad for end of year plans!

Western Sydney is closer to me but I’d pay $110 to not have to fly overnight

I wonder how many tourists are going to end up at the wrong airport and be completely fucked considering in peak traffic the distance between will be at least 1 hour

  5. Also probably not going to have as good lounges which means business travels might prefer Sydney airport.

    Also red-eyes suck.

  6. By the time tourists have factored in ubers to the city then Syd is still cheaper.

Unless you live close to city then its near 100 to get home . They need rail and it needs to be cheap tickets

  8. This will end up like narita or haneda. A bit cheaper since you have to travel to the city vs the convenience in landing at the city

  9. It would be interesting to see the fees and taxes for each ticket. I would even assume WSI to give SQ some kind of cashback for every passenger flying through there.

  10. Great, you can spend it on the uber to get there, since there isn’t much public transport

  11. Why do Redditors hate the idea of people living out west and only view things from the perspective of inconvenience (because you don’t love in the west)

It’s a launch fare, on sale until 31 March. Will be interesting to see what the price is after then.
