Cause its smaller than the last one, lost its film projector and seats fewer. The old one was like world class whereas now the last good imax in Oceania is Melbourne. I’m glad I got to experience the old one once even though I was very young.

I was there last night for Project Hail Mary.

I’ll be back for Mandalorian – big fan!

Few beers around the corner at the pump house – nice Sunday evening

  4. I think it sucks personally

2/3 of the seats are too close to the screen

Picture quality looks bad due to scale unless you’re right at the back

    Bathrooms are inadequate

Would prefer to see a movie in a cinema like Hoyts Moore Park anytime or any Event gold class

  5. Pale imitation of what it once was….
Maybe 10 actually decent seats in the entire theatre.

Terrible cinema. Theres no room to walk along the aisles and the glass dividers get in the way of the screen.

I feel like old IMAX was nostalgic for so many reasons because it’s one that we could relate to. It was also home to the largest cinema screen in the world at one point.

  8. I went once 2 years ago, not worth it. Sat in the middle and I was craning my neck the whole movie looking up at the screen.

  9. Because it’s an enshittification of the previous product, driven by real estate greed.

I went to the old one once, it was great as a novelty but I never had the inclination to go back there over a normal cinema and from all reports this one isn’t even as good as the old one was so I assume that is why.

  11. Dogshit seating design, clearly didn’t go through any testing for sightlines. For 80% of the seats in this cinema, u need to tilt your head up for the entire movie otherwise you’d be staring at the bottom of the screen. Wouldn’t even be a big issue if the seats were angled slightly better..

I hate it. It’s so badly designed. Only about 1/3rd of the seats have what I would consider an acceptable viewing angle. The seats at the front are entirely unusable and after about 15 minutes I feared permanent neck damage.

Walked out and got a refund.

  13. The old one was incredible.

This new one is barely bigger than the main Chatswood Westfield Hoyts

  14. I’m annoyed there are only 2 IMAX screens in all of Greater Sydney (Darling Habour and Blacktown) while London has like 11. And because of that both of them suck and are expensive. Blacktown doesn’t even have the proper 1.43:1 aspect ratio but 1.90:1, and the screen is a little further from the seats. So that’s like a little taller than standard for more of your money.

  15. I remember watching Deadpool on the OG one. Hell of an experience. Had no reason to go to the new one given it’s such a downgrade.

It’s poorly designed corporate-driven bullshit driven by poor choices, and now it’s in the hands of EVT, who also make poor choices for offerings compared to Melbourne. I’m very lucky I got to go to the old one a few times before it closed. However, the staff are nice, and they really try their best, I imagine.
