If this is where you can see the ants, consider where you cannot see the ants.

You know how people keep ant colonies in sand? You’ve got the modern version! You’re raising the colony in a TV!

And I for one would like to welcome our new television overlords!

Had this happen to my tv (65inch led tv), they were sandwiched between two layers (led panel and the backlight)

As it was pretty much a total loss, I tired repair. Screen was glued to the frame, which made repair hard but I gave it a go anyway after checking a teardown video for similar tv on YouTube.

Managed to get all the ants cleaned out, which was quite intense work and the size of the screen(65inch) wasnt much help. In the end managed to clean it up but dropped the panel while gluing it together.

Long story short, can be cleaned up especially if the panels aren’t glued together. But time and effort is for you to decide, given you are into DIY.

  5. We use ours in the outdoor gazebo.
We had to turn the brightness up to maximum and the sound up to maximum, because using it outdoors.

Spray the outside area around the TV with surface spray…. the aim is to encourage them to leave and when they cross the line of surface spray, they will die off. You don’t want them to go back in the TV.

  6. Well, at least it isn’t cockroaches? But this still sucks. I have no idea how to fix it but maybe you can contact the manufacturer about it to see if they have any advice. They usually suck though and just want you to spend more money. Sorry, dude.

Place something sweet like sugar water or honey near vents – ants may start leaving the tv toward the food, take the tv outside if possible or tap/shake it lightly don’t go crazy use a vacuum on vents – low suction if possible.

Turn off and unplug the tv immediately you don’t want: short circuits, ants getting fried which releases pheromones attracts more ants.

The circuit boards of most electronic equipment are very yummy to most ants. Prevention is essential.

  9. After ants moved into my printer, I put it outside it the sun. They moved out and took the ant eggs with them. I was so surprised it worked!

Happened to me. I honestly just left them there and after a year, they’ve decomposed I think. Can’t see them at all lol

Put ant rid on a paper plate under the corner of the TV watch them come to it like bugs on a blue light zapper lol

I had a similar problem with a monitor. I disassembled it and tried to physically shake out and remove as much of it as I could. I thought I’d failed as some of it remained. I came back later and found that they actually packed up and took the rest of their eggs (and even most of the dirt/other stuff) with them.
