As one of those being hated, I know.

Thanks for illumination of a serious issue.

I’ve had death threats on this platform. Because I exist. Hate is real, it exists.

  2. And it’s always the religious people of “morals and love” pushing the hate speech.

I thought the government had successfully combated misinformation by age-restricting access to social media rather than, for example, combating the promoters of such misinformation (which includes social media, print media, television media, etc companies).

    >“The algorithm keeps feeding angry people things that will make them angry. So they stay angry and they stay connected to the platform,” she said, pointing to trans people leaving Elon Musk’s X.

    >“It’s a platform that many people now either regretfully use and interact with or have stepped away from completely because … it’s sort of this angry fishbowl of feelings and opinions.”

The fact that your exposure to news can be so heavily curated to what you want to see just by clicking a heart or a thumbs up is so fucked. Social media algorithms honestly need to be banned or extremely regulated, the damage it does to peoples view of the world cannot be understated.

The level of vitriol people have against us is just so scary, just a trans person existing the first comment will always be something like “you’ll never be your gender” It’s so exhausting

  5. Not surprising. Epstein and his associates were/are a huge influence in the anti-trans movement in the US, and Rowling (who is in the files) single handedly funds the anti-trans movement in the UK. It’s a look at them not at us class division tactic. Always has been. If the anti-trans movement lost the funding of billionaires, it rapidly disintegrates.

  6. Trans people are a tiny part of the population and are just EXISTING, and any politician or elected official who is trying to restrict trans peoples rights is wasting tax payer money.

This is why education is so important, and why we must do as much as we can to combat disinformation. Trans people are just trying to live their lives and they’re copping hate for no good reason.

People are always afraid of things they aren’t familiar with. Given that the trans identity has only really recently become mainstream, despite trans people being around since forever, there’s inevitably going to be a non-trivial proportion of people who will use them as a convenient excuse to spew hatred. The more we do to stand up to this vitriol, the easier our trans brothers and sisters’ lives will become.

  8. The other side is always spreading disinformation. In fact its common for both sides of an argument to be spreading disinformation according to the other side.

Government failing to act on ‘Severe disinformation campaign’ fuelling trans hate speech, Australia’s sex discrimination commissioner says.

don’t forget there are legitimate queer groups ‘dropping the T’ out of pure hatred, and not just old school lesbians and homosexuals, but even young queer individuals. it’s so annoying, and I’m not even Trans, but you come to realise that Trans people don’t have many allies, and now not even the people they helped build up.

Marsha P Johnson threw the first brick!

“Funny thing about a cage, it’s never built for just one group,

So when the cage is done with them and you’re still poor they come for you,

The newest lowest on the totem, well golly-gee, you have been used,

You helped to fuel the death machine that down the line will come for you”

If you care about the women (and men) in your life, you should be pro-trans rights, because it doesn’t end at just banning them from Olympic sports. It’ll end with you and/or your partner having their genitals checked to confirm they’re not trans. This isn’t something that is a pie-in-the-sky, slippery-slope fallacy, it’s stuff that’s actually happening in countries pushing anti-trans ideas. But more than that, trans people are a fraction of the population and receive an inordinate amount of hate and attention, and this attention isn’t organic. It’s absolutely engineered. Trans people have existed for ages, and while they’ve always been disadvantaged against and attacked, the recent vitriol is way more than what was around previously.

  12. (The report, led by the sex discrimination commissioner, Dr Anna Cody, recommends changes to federal law to include protections for LGBTQ+ Australians from vilification, bans on conversion practices and an end to pauses on puberty blockers for trans youth.)

    I support this whole heartedly.

  13. I noticed on Facebook this month, I started get this transphobic shit appear in feed. I would click “Not Interested”, but 3 days later it returned.
