Title: Overcharged at Eurospin Mosta – check your receipt
I had a really frustrating experience at Eurospin Mosta on April 4th.
I bought about 3 kg of oranges that were clearly marked at €2.29/kg. I even weighed them myself and put the label on the bag. At checkout, the cashier ignored the label and charged me for a more expensive type of oranges without saying anything. When I pointed it out, she insisted I was wrong and that I had picked the more expensive ones. I had to go back to the shelf to prove it — and of course, I was right.
Then the mango situation. The shelf price was €0.99, but at checkout it was charged as €1.49. After leaving the register, I checked the receipt and realized I was charged for THREE mangoes instead of one.
I had to go back and argue with the manager to get my money back.
What’s worse, neither the cashier nor the manager apologized. They were dismissive and acted like I was the problem for pointing out their mistakes.
Be careful when shopping here and always check your receipt, especially for fruits and vegetables.

At Lidl this happens many times as well. Always check your receipt
They are doing it to encourage users to self checkout, that’s the conspiracy I believe
I had also a bad experience at eurospin.
We had 3 items as we stopped to grab some supplies before bbq; so just some ketchup, bread and sausages.
We walk up to the cashier to pay, she tells us “sorry sorry, closed, no work” we show her our items and say that we only have 3 items and she just starts shouting and saying “no no closed”.
We step back to see where there is the smallest queue, guess what happens in the meantime… a lady with a trolley walks up the cashier were we just standing and starts scanning her items…
We ended up going to self checkout (which might have been the right move from the start) where we saw the manager, we told him about the situation and he (or she, it was in summer so not sure) went to the cashier, HAD A LAUGH with her, returned and started saying some non sense, he was like “ok ok, please pay because you’re holding the line, I spoke with her”.
We were shocked to say the least, I was at least expecting apology or something, but no, we were treated rudely. Both myself and my wife are Maltese and we’ve never expected this to happen there.
Since then we’ve never went there again.
Btw, regarding your pricing comment, yes it’s true it happens, I always check what they charge us, but often times they just ask me what I put there, I believe we had 1 case like this where they said they updated the price from their system bur forgot to change the physical label.
Either way, it’s unfortunate that it happened to you, 3-6 months after they opened they’ve been going down hill, they need at least a new manager, the one they have is horrible.
