Every Swiss should become a drone operator and trade the rifle at home for ten drones…

A much better investment than F35s and Patroit missiles. The US is more likely to wish to replenish their own stockpiles, sell them to the Middle East, Ukraine, Taiwan, and other allies before sending a few extra our way. A minimum 5 year delay will probably be much longer if the US uses their stockpile in conflicts in the coming years. Neutral Switzerland is probably the lowest priority recipient in the program.
While with drones we have plenty of highly skilled ETH roboticists along with successful startups working on drone control software. Drone manufacture can be highly automated and one of easiest modern armaments to be locally done.

Neutrality means not taking sides in conflicts, it does not prevent a country from producing armaments, but it does restrict how they are used or exported.

We have all the knowledge and production capabilities to become a great drone manufacturer.

When looking at how the war is done now in Ukraine, armies of drones is a good deterrent.

let me guess, they gonna cost half a million CHF per piece and the absolutly necessary revolutionary collision-avoidance system will be in integration hell for decades.

Can’t wait to have hacked drones attack people because they’re “x” or “y” 🙂

If Switzerland designs, assembles, and produces them in-house, it makes sense. If it does like the rest, buying from the US(hit)A, it’s a huge no.
But perhaps it would make more sense to invest in infrastructure, intelligence, and protection from data theft and cyber attacks, and in jamming enemy drone signals…
