My Turkish neighbor gave this to my mother, we don’t know what it is, it’s cold and soft to the touch. Thanks in advance.

Edit: I just tried it, it’s really good, thanks to everyone who commented

  1. Mercimek Köfte.

Wrap it with lettuce, pour a few drops of the lemon’s juice. Enjoy.

Sharing food with neighbors may look suspicious at first but it’s a thing in turkish culture. The prophet of islam also has a quote popular among them, roughly translated as: “those are not one of us whoever goes to bed with a full stomach while their neighbor is hungry” This tradition is diminishing though, with rise of the apartments making it harder to have close warm relationships with so many people living on top of each other with limited common space outdoors

  5. Wrap it in a piece of lettuce, season every bite with lemon—acidity helps bring out the flavor.

  6. You’re about to witness the best vegan food ever. Definitely one of my favorites, and im saying this as a hardcore meat consumer. Take the advices above and give it a taste, it will take you 30 seconds to run the plate clean.

Also a native tip: not mandatory but returning the plate with something else in it is common courtesy, your neigbour will love you more than anything since you know the tradition

Its like cig kofte but made out of lentils. You eat it the exact same way you eat cig kofte. Enjoy!

Looks like Mercimek Köfte (Lentil meatballs but made without meat).

Delicious (for me) and very healthy (for everyone)
