Germany’s finance minister, Lars Klingbeil, joined several of his European Union counterparts in calling for a tax on the windfall profits being made by energy companies amid the war in Iran.

    1. We did that in 2022. Earned over a billion in additional tax revenue and it had positive effects on fuel prices. There is literally only reason we don’t do it currently: ~~corruption~~ lobbying

      Tell you one thing son – keep these prices high through the summer and what years of AfD threats and subdued pervasive racism failed to achieve, will happen immediately: a lot of immigrants will leave Germany since you have to be native to simply take it, and take it, and take this slap in the face from the Government, the companies, the insurances, the everything and everybody does it without flinching, without a modicum of revolt.

      It is absolutely ridiculous the level of “tja” that the population simply tolerates! How come?
