hi,

    SHORT QUESTION:

Can an item sold by Amazon itself be a scam? it says sold by amazon.com.be and it says 30 day return policy

    long story:

I’m slowly looking around. for a new laptop, my 9 year old Asus is still working, but the 8gb ram, gtx1060 and i7 7700 is getting in the way of things i want to do.

i’ve seen a laptop on Amazon for €1092. When i look at the prices on the website if the manufacturer itself I cannot configure it exactly but even on lower specs I get up to more than €4500…

is there any risk in buying it when it says:

sold by Amazon.com.be & 30 days return policy

    i

No risk, but unlikely it’ll be delivered. You’ll just be reimbursed eventually

    2. Temporary out of stock items with “old” pricing usually get canceled and refunded when they get restocked and the price gets adjusted.

I doubt it would even allow you to buy it tho

    3. Amazon tends to show the last price an item went for when it’s no longer available, but these can also be for refurbished items sold by third parties. They then update the price once the item is back in stock.

Big chance it will not be delivered and refunded if it is out of stock.
Meanwhile it tricks you to stay on their platform to wait, check and probably buy some other stuff while you are at it. If the laptop is so cheap, other stuff is more interesting too, right?
Technically not a scam, but a way to get you stuck.
But be careful, Amazon platform is used for scams as well by other sellers. I found something for a very cheap price and they tried to trick me to pay outside of Amazon system. Ofcourse I didn’t and I reported it. It was taken down after.

Just don’t buy via Amazon. Fuck them big-time.

I wholeheartedly recommend Megekko if you’re in need of a gaming computer/laptop.

    6. its “not in stock” , so u are not getting this anyway.

      But tbf, you’re not getting any RTX 5080, Intel Ultra 9 275HX with 64GB DDR5 for €1100

Sorry everyone, my Sleepy eyes didn’t notice the out of stock.

I’ve had some luck with pc parts being 1/3 of the price they should have been a few years ago (€164 sold for €64, few hours later it was for sale for €164) so i still believe in webshop miracles

Is the seller amazon itself, or a third party seller? If it is a third party seller, then yes it can be a scam where they will try to contact you out of the amazon communications loop.

Not necessarily “a scam“. But be aware it might be bought from a lot of faulty devices and might quit on you within a year. Had this a bunch of times with GPUs on Amazon and the manufacturers refused warranty saying Amazon bought them specifically without warranty to handle the cases themselves (which in all fairness, I always got a full refund. It’s annoying regardless.)

    10. You will probably receive a Dell Pro PC16255. When you enter the ASIN (B0FCXW3259) on [Amazon.de](http://Amazon.de), you see it being listed as “Dell Pro 16 PC16255 – AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 215 – Win 11 Pro – Radeon 740M – 16 GB RAM – 512 GB SSD NVMe – 40,646 cm (16″) IPS 1920 x 1200 (Full HD Plus) – Wi-Fi 6E – Magnetiet – BTS” instead of an Alienware (photos are showing an Alienware though).

It also shows up as available there.

    11. Most likely scenario: This will never again be in stock, but the exact same product with a nearly similar SKU will be added and with the ‘correct’ price. This happens occasionally. I’ve seen it a few times.

    12. Yes. I have gotten fake stuff shipped by Amazon. It’s the main reason I don’t buy from Amazon any more.

I bought a Razer laptop like this on, for like 1/3th of the price. I don’t now how they do it, it was a last years model. So far like 3 yeras later, no complaints, besides my J button not working that good anymore!

I’ve bought temporarily out of stock items very cheap before. Sometimes it takes a while for it to come back in stock, sometimes it doesn’t come back at all & the order gets automatically cancelled after a few months.

If you’re not in a rush to possibly get this, it’s definitely worth a try.
