Curitiba has the second largest Polish diaspora, after Chicago. Święconka is celebrated every year in Bosque Papa João Paulo II, home to the monument to Polish immigration, inaugurated on December 13, 1980 after the Pope’s visit to the city in June. The wooden houses, seven in all, were built by Polish immigrants in the 1870s and 1880s and later moved to the site.

Aaah gdzieś mi mignął artykuł naukowy o tym, że ta diaspora jest ważna ze względu na posługiwanie się starą i już wymarłą polszczyzną. Wymarłą w sensie ewolucji języka 🙂 Dobry materiał badawczy!
