Wait are most people’s Costco gas stations right at the store? Mine doesn’t involve the mayhem that is the store parking lot; it’s a separate property a block or two down the street.

  2. I don’t know why every gas station can’t make people all enter on one end and leave on the other and have hoses that are long enough to reach the far side of your car.

Not only is Costco gas cheaper, it’s less of a clusterfuck trying to get to a pump than most other gas stations even when they are super busy.

The one near me has the gas station right next to the main store entrance! You can imagine the cluster of folks that just want to shop having to through the long ass gas line and the ones buying gas navigating through the parking lot to find the end of the long ass line 😵‍💫

  4. CostCo should be investing in EV charging. I don’t have a need for a CostCo membership right now, but if I could park my car at a DCFC station and then go walk around for 30-40 minutes instead of sitting in my car, the price of the membership is worth it. Walmart knows this and is expanding their DCFC footprint. I used two Walmarts on a roadtrip. I walked in Walmart, stretched my legs, used the restroom, and picked up some snacks. My car was charged when I was finished as I was heading back to the car or within 1-2 minutes of getting to the car. Walmart gets my money, I get a charge at a location that will likely keep their chargers working, and I’ll be on the lookout for Walmarts on my next EV roadtrip.

feels like this is less about fuel and more about driving traffic

    costco always wins on volume

  6. > a membership will be needed to access the first standalone Costco Gasoline station, scheduled to open in Mission Viejo, California (replacing an old Bed, Bath & Beyond at 25732 El Paseo, to be exact)

And they’re building on the grave of a degenerate meme stock company, didn’t know I could like a for-profit corporation as much as I do Costco (within reason, they’re still a soulless corp, but at least they seem to take care of their employees).

    nobody absolutely nobody:

Costco : looking around.. sees everything going to shit in bulk, thinks yeah I can fix them (housing, gas prices, livable wage)

  8. That shopping center in Mission Viejo used to be a nightmare getting into and out of as there is only one road in/out. Many of the stores there closed so its not as bad anymore except maybe the holidays. But, wonder if traffic will ramp back up again.

  9. Another example of Costco doing things right.

I am a pretty passive investor, but my small purchase of Costco stock a handful of years ago has appreciated as much as any tech company that I’ve bought.

  10. Would like them to do for EV charging what they do for gas.

Also wonder if it closes at 9-ish like their store pumps do.

Yesss they should. I already pretty much only get my gas at Costco and having more would be amazing

These MFs took the place of my Golden Corral. Find me a cheaper steak buffet Costco. You’re number one on my shit list.

  13. Costco car wash when?

I fantasize about Costco style efficiency, scale, and price applied to a touchless car wash.
