‘Formal notice’ sounds nicer than extortion. But forcing people to pay you so that you don’t commit violent crimes against them sure sounds like extortion.

The mislabeled inbound lane below Larak Island is something else!

Tha lane going towards the right on the map says both in and out of the Persian Gulf…

Don’t forget to thank the US president for all the hard work he did to get this. Gosh I’m just so overwhelmed with all this winning.

As a mariner I’d like to point out, this is not a map. It is a chart.
This is both somewhat semantics and a fun fact.
Charts are not maps 😉

I mean that has always been the case, these two routes are the official sea lines that every sailor for the past few hundreds of years have taken. This chart has been used for centuries and OP just posted it as if its something new or related to current events. There wouldn’t have been a crisis if the red area wasn’t hazardous

Isn’t this mostly the normalish route anyway. The water near oman has never been used for large ship traffic because of the depth and tides? feels closer to Iran than my memory but not that different.

Wondering what THE GAY OF HORMUZ has to say about all of this.

Will this decimate Kuwait Qatar ?
Bermuda Triangle, meet Iranian Square.
Notice how the outbound lane is labelled as the inbound lane?
And there’s nothing at all inherently dangerous about routing massive tankers through a very narrow gap is there?
I didn’t know the strait was so shallow. Barely 60 to 80 meters at most points. No wonder warships don’t want to operate there.
I hear rumors of underwater autonomous mobile torpedos.
“Danger Area Coordinates” just sounds really cool for some reason
Maybe change the hazardous area to Here be Dragons?
Che vadano a cagare tutti. Sia da una parte che l’altra parte. Avrei io una bella cura medioevale per entrambi gli stati.
